Thurs. S.J. boys' roundup: Datz's spotless shooting spurs Pitman

Trevor Datz enjoyed a perfect shooting night in scoring a career-high 21 points, and the Pitman boys' basketball team turned in its best offensive showing of the season in cruising past visiting Wildwood, 86-73, on Thursday in the Tri-County Conference Classic Division.

Datz, a junior small forward, made all eight of his field-goal attempts and shot 5 for 5 from the foul line.

Eric Stafford also scored 21, and Tim Delaney added 18 points for the Panthers, who ran out to a 39-20 halftime lead.

In other Tri-County Conference action:

Charles Seals (18 points) provided perimeter scoring and Kyle Howell chipped in 16 points to enable Salem to outlast host Gloucester, 66-64, in triple overtime. Tajee Almon (21 points) and Stefano Okoro (20) led the Lions.

Schalick set a school record for points in a quarter by blitzing Clayton, 37-10 in the third period, en route to a 94-57 home win.

Rashaan Armstead, who picked up 13 points and 10 rebounds in the first quarter, finished with 28 points. Deandre Solomon (19 points), Melvin Allen (17) and George Myers (15) joined in the fun for the Cougars. Shawn Dunn scored 17 for Clayton.

Brandon West knocked down three shots from beyond the arc in scoring 17 points, and Daron Curry picked up 12 of his 16 points in a 25-9 second-quarter spree, as host Deptford dumped GCIT, 80-53.

Nick Lawson (14 points) and Devon Thompson (11) rounded out the Spartans' double-figure scoring, while Kevin Krowicki and Kevin Smith had 15 points each for the Cheetahs.

Cape-Atlantic. Wildwood Catholic had its way in a 62-13 romp at Buena, with T-John Casiello's 16 points pacing 11 Crusaders in the scoring column.

Nonleague. James Bullock scored 7 of his 25 points in overtime, and Overbrook converted 9 of 10 free throws in the extra period to pull out an 84-79 win at Pennsauken Tech.

Deandre Dredden added 15 points while Ray Cross and Mike Diaz scored 12 apiece for the Rams, who rallied from a 42-31 halftime deficit. Brandon Rembert's 25 points led four Tech scorers in double figures.

Kris O'Connor got off to a fast start, scoring 10 of his 21 points in a game-opening 23-6 run, allowing host Paul VI to crush Cherry Hill West, 69-39. Roosevelt Cubbage and Matt Risse added 12 points apiece for the Eagles.

Brandon Joyner dished out 16 assists to go with 24 points, and Davon Jones also scored 24 to power host Haddon Heights past Camden Academy Charter, 81-38.

Host Millville survived a furious fourth-quarter rally to hold off Middle Township, 60-59.

Nick Kirey drained four three-pointers and joined teammate Rashon Sorrell in scoring 16 points for the Thunderbolts. Lamar Greer (16 points), Tommy Feraco (13) and Tom Catanoso (12) keyed Township's 23-12 surge over the final eight minutes.

Rancocas Valley rode 18 points by Tariq Jett and a 17-11 game-ending run to escape with a 47-46 victory at Northern Burlington. Alex Irvin topped the Greyhounds with 16 points.

Joe Palmer's game-high 20 points keyed a second-half comeback, propelling Gateway past Pennsville, 54-47. The host Eagles, who held a 28-25 halftime lead, received 16 points each from Eric Bundy and Drew Burdsall.

Andrew Ordille and Tyler D'Amelio teamed up to score 22 points and St. Joseph finished strong to upend host Lindenwold, 46-45. The Lions led by 31-28 entering the final period, thanks to 15 points from Denzel Turbeville.

Remi Oclulana led the way with 14 points and Brandon Roche came through with 11 points and nine rebounds, helping host Burlington Township hold off Holy Cross, 52-48.

Despite getting a combined 29 points from Connor Lindsay and Tyler Barnes, New Egypt wasn't able to climb out of an early hole in falling, 53-42, at Barnegat.

Wrestling

Ferdinand Mase (106 pounds), Collin Mitchell (120), Brock Worrell (152) and Michael Gill (220) all won by major decision, typifying Eastern's dominance in a 58-14 home win over Olympic Conference rival Washington Township.
