Fri. S.J. football roundup: Cherokee holds off Shawnee

The Chiefs (4-2) seemed to take command early, with a pair of TD runs by Zaire Williams. But Shawnee (4-2) battled back behind the rushing of Rob DiOrio (112 yards, one touchdown) and the passing of Jamie Jackopin (123 yards, one TD).

Cherry Hill West 20, Camden 0 - Rodney Williams ran for 112 yards and two touchdowns and also tossed a 21-yard scoring pass to Ali Brown, as the host Lions (1-5) broke into the win column at the expense of Camden (1-5).

Lenape 42, Seneca 23 - Trevor Terrell scored four touchdowns while steering the Indians (2-4) past host Seneca (3-4).

Terrell ran for TDs of 7, 12, and 5 yards and also caught a 31-yard pass from Cory Jett.

Seneca quarterback A.J. Miskiewicz threw touchdown passes to Joey Pawlowski and Alec Flexon.

Triton 13, Bishop Eustace 0 - Josh Woods broke open a scoreless battle with a pair of fourth-quarter touchdown runs, and Nick Batastini recorded a dozen tackles to help the Mustangs (5-1) pull away to an interdivision victory at Bishop Eustace (3-3).

Cumberland 21, Deptford 7 - Fourth-quarter touchdown runs by Dehahn Millidge and Dermain Norman enabled the Colts (2-4) to seal the interdivision home win over Deptford (3-3).

Woodstown 27, Wildwood 0 - L.J. Stanford broke off an 84-yard touchdown run and Marcus Johnson scored on a 52-yard jaunt, highlighting a big-play attack that carried the Wolverines (4-2) to the interdivision road win.

Despite the loss, Wesley Hill rolled up 162 yards on 28 carries for Wildwood (1-5), becoming the first Warrior running back to gain 1,000 yards in a season since Joe Kelly and Tylee Thomas reached the milestone in 1999.

Colonial Conference

Quamir Mack caught an 11-yard touchdown pass from Marcus Taylor with 30 seconds left in regulation, giving Sterling a 13-12 win at Lindenwold in an interdivision thriller.

Taylor scored on a 1-yard keeper in the third quarter, and Jamere Harmon rushed for a game-high 105 yards for the Silver Knights (3-3).

Lindenwold (0-6) remained winless despite a strong air attack that saw freshman quarterback Malik Muldrow complete 21 of 29 passes for 199 yards - including two TDs to Steve Wilford (13 catches, 152 yards).

West Deptford 49, Haddon Township 0 - Gerald Towns ran for four touchdowns in the first quarter and Ryan Flaherty punctuated a dominating defensive effort with a quarterback sack for a safety, as the host Eagles (5-1) rolled to an interdivision rout.

Haddon Township (1-5) suffered its second shutout of the season and has scored a total of 15 points in losing its last five games.

Haddon Heights 41, Gateway 0 - Brandon Joyner produced 126 yards on just seven carries, including scoring runs of 56, 8, and 45 yards, and he added an 85-yard punt return for touchdown to pave the way for the host Garnets (5-1) in the interdivision romp past Gateway (2-4).

Cape-Atlantic League

Radi Tolbert rushed for 63 yards and a pair of second-half touchdowns to enable host Atlantic City to finish off Vineland, 30-16, in an American Division game.

Kabir McCoy threw for one touchdown and ran for another, and Domaneek Herd added 100 yards on a dozen carries for Atlantic City (5-1, 3-1). The Clan (2-4, 0-3) opened the scoring in the first quarter on a 1-yard run by Marcus Nelson (93 yards rushing).

Bridgeton 29, Middle Township 6 - Stefon Bowman's second touchdown run of the night gave the visiting Bulldogs (4-2, 4-0) the lead for good in the United Division game at Middle Township (1-6, 1-3).

Northern Burlington 56, Cinnaminson 55 - Tosin Adeyemo capped his 222-yard rushing performance with his third touchdown of the night - a 1-yard plunge in overtime - and the host Greyhounds (5-1) stopped a two-point conversion by Cinnaminson (5-2) to end the inter-division scoring fest.

Colin Fitzpatrick, who scored on two quarterback keepers, threw for 242 yards and three touchdowns for Northern Burlington.

Dominic Elly passed for 340 yards, ran for 182 and had a hand in seven touchdowns for the Pirates, who outgained the Greyhounds, 523-455.

Salem 27, Pitman 6 - Devin Walker had two of the four rushing touchdowns that propelled the Rams (4-2, 3-1) to the Classic Division victory at Pitman (1-5, 1-2).

Florence 35, Burlington City 0 - D'Andre Davis completed all eight of his passes for 181 yards and three touchdowns while guiding the Flashes (5-1) to the inter-division romp at Burlington City (1-5).

Pennsville 27, Gloucester 22 - Colt Newsome's 81-yard punt return with 6 minutes remaining put the Eagles (6-0) ahead to stay in an inter-division battle at Gloucester (2-5).

The Lions made a game of it behind the rushing of Ben Boyer, who churned out 256 yards and three TDs on 46 carries.

Timber Creek 13, Eastern 7 - Taliq Chambers' interception put the Chargers (6-0) in business with 3 minutes to go, and Kahalil Pierce (15 carries, 105 yards) cashed in two minutes later with his second touchdown of the night, sealing the inter-division comeback win at Eastern (2-5).

Holy Cross 43, Maple Shade 19 - Conor Dempster had touchdown runs of 35, 26, 57 and 13 yards in finishing with 222 yards on 13 carries for the host Lancers (4-2), who broke the inter-division game open with a 22-point fourth quarter.

Maple Shade (2-5) trailed by one point at halftime.

Williamstown 21, Kingsway 2 - The host Dragons (3-4) opened the scoring with a safety, but the rest of the inter-division game belonged to Williamstown (6-0).

Chris Inge, Marquis Little and Kili Boyce all had touchdown runs of 20 yards or more for the Braves.

New Egypt 24, Robbinsville 0 - Jamel Smith threw one touchdown pass and caught another, as the Warriors (5-1) poured it on in the second half to pull away with the inter-division win at Robbinsville (4-3).

Moorestown 48, Highland 16 - Andrew Lisa passed for 178 yards and five touchdowns, as the Quakers (5-2) took command of the inter-division game early.

Host Highland (0-7) struck late with its own aerial attack, as Dan Martin heaved a 60-yard scoring strike to Jacorey Williams and then found Kerron Johnson open with a 53-yard TD pass.
