Thurs. S.J. boys' and girls' roundup: Woodstown clinches

Woodstown wrapped up the Tri-County Conference Diamond Division boys' soccer title on Thursday, when the Wolverines used first-half goals by Greg Conner and Patrick Love and solid goaltending by Jonathan Robbins to hold off host Glassboro, 2-1.

Lucas Barousse was the lone Bulldog to put the ball past Robbins, who made nine saves to earn the win for Woodstown (8-1 division).

In another Tri-County Conference match, Brent Greco contributed two assists along with his 26th goal of the season as Classic Division champ Schalick (13-1-1 overall) stormed past visiting Wildwood, 6-0.

Chris Grabert totaled two goals and a pair of assists and fellow senior George Skibinski scored twice, keying host Clearview's 6-1 rout of Cumberland on senior night.

Field Hockey

Haddonfield will finish alone atop the Colonial Conference Liberty Division standings, after the Bulldogs (15-0 conference) mauled host Paulsboro, 9-0.

Megan Johnston and Cat Thomas each had a hat trick, and Maddie Betley scored twice for Haddonfield - which shared the division crown last season with West Deptford.

In another Colonial Conference match, Audubon senior Megan Anstotz had a hat trick to boost her career goal total to 72 as the Green Wave washed away visiting Overbrook, 7-0.

Burlington County. Maple Shade (13-1-1) extended its unbeaten streak to 13 matches, getting a pair of second-half goals from Caitlin Szymczak to pull out a 2-1 home win over Bordentown.

Cape-Atlantic. Jess Dougherty set up goals by MaryBeth Keeler and Jess McDowell in the final 16 minutes to rally Lower Cape May to a 2-1 triumph at Buena.

Girls' Soccer

Gabrielle Cuccinota and Elyse Virella scored two goals apiece to power host Gloucester Catholic past Penns Grove, 6-0.

The victory - coupled with Glassboro's 1-0 loss at Woodstown - gave the Rams (8-0 division) the Diamond Division championship.

Burlington County. Sharde Adams picked up her second goal of the match off a pass from Taylor Lewis in the second overtime period, as host Willingboro outlasted Maple Shade, 3-2.

Cape-Atlantic. Jackie DeLong ended the scoring drought 22 seconds into overtime, burying a feed from Gia Tammaro to give host Wildwood Catholic 1-0 win over Sacred Heart. Crusaders keeper Jenna Long stopped six shots in posting the shutout.

Girls' Tennis

Linda Brostowski defeated Julia Ruczynski, 6-4, 6-2 at second singles to help host Clearview down Delsea, 4-1, giving the Pioneers the Tri-County Conference Royal Division title.
