Thurs. S.J. girls’ roundup: Three clinch division crowns

Cross-city rivals Gloucester and Gloucester Catholic joined Delsea in celebrating title-clinching victories in Tri-County Conference girls' basketball on Thursday.

Gloucester Catholic (13-3 overall, 8-0 division) wrapped up the Diamond Division crown, as Nicole Fallon tossed in 17 points, and the Rams dominated from the outset in rolling to a 42-17 victory at second-place Woodstown.

Gloucester (15-1, 10-0) clinched at least a share of the Classic Division title by cruising past visiting Wildwood, 55-16. Irene Grimanis (11 points) and Johanna James (10) topped the Lions' scoring, while Gabrielle Cooper and Cori Conner each pulled down 10 rebounds.

Delsea (14-2, 9-0) claimed its first outright championship in 17 seasons by capturing the Royal Division with a 39-36 win at Williamstown. Tori Levari and Jackie Short had 12 points apiece for the Crusaders.

In other Tri-County Conference action:

Taylor Johnson (14 points) and Heather Juhring (12) keyed Kingsway's 47-36 triumph at Clearview. Junior guard Danielle St. John had a career-high 17 points for the host Pioneers.

Taylor Smith got Penns Grove off to a fast start, scoring 12 of her 19 points in a game-opening 19-4 run, and the Red Devils went on to demolish host Deptford, 37-15.

Steph Williams scored a game-high 19 points and Jewel Brown ruled the lowpost, totaling 18 points and 17 rebounds, in helping Clayton clip host Pitman, 45-42. Karlie Crispin's 17 points kept the Panthers close.

Joyce Perry picked up 15 of her 19 points in the first half, as Schalick ran out to a 35-12 lead and coasted past Pennsville, 57-31. Taylor Henze scored 21 for the Eagles.

Olympic. Chanelle Perry scored 11 of her 18 points in the fourth quarter, and Shanice Maynard capped her 20-point performance by sinking a pair of free throws with five seconds left, as host Woodrow Wilson edged Eastern, 50-45. The Vikings, behind 14 points by Michelle Dixon, carried a 32-30 lead into the final period.

Cherry Hill West relied on Lisa Kosteleski (16 points) and Taylor Klevenz (12) to pull off a 43-38 upset at Camden Catholic.

Marie Boisvert came through in the clutch, netting seven of her 19 points in the fourth quarter to cement Cherry Hill East's 55-46 victory at Winslow Township. Michelle Onu added 14 points for the Cougars, while Jada Matthews (21 points) and Tashay March (15) supplied the bulk of the Eagles' scoring.

Jasmine Martin caught fire in the second half, scoring 17 of her 27 points over the final two quarters, and finished with eight rebounds as host Timber Creek cut down Washington Township, 52-45. Kelsey Brown's 18 points paced the Minutemaids.

Sophomore forward Deja Bullock lit up the scoreboard with 32 points and cleared the glass for 20 rebounds, as Triton trampled host Camden, 54-32.

Colonial. Haddon Township remained atop the Patriot Division standings by toasting host Audubon, 69-47. Jess Brown (16 points), Kelsey McCullough (15), Sara DeCinque (13), and Katie Getzinger (10) carried the Hawks' attack, which included eight three-point shots. Alex Gravinese scored 17 for the Green Wave.

Second-place Paulsboro kept pace with Haddon Township by trouncing visiting Woodbury, 67-34. Lavon Childress set her season high of 11 steals - and completed her triple-double with 26 points and a dozen rebounds - while Tiaja Harrold poured in 22 points for the Red Raiders.

Freshman Nadja Riggs (12 points) provided a steady hand for Haddon Heights, converting 8 of 10 free throws over two overtime periods to allow the Garnets to outlast host Collingswood, 49-41, in double overtime. Desiree Rountree also scored 12 for Heights, while Ellie O'Neill (22 points) sparked the Panthers' 16-4 fourth-quarter rally.

Gateway's tandem of Meghan Nowak (23 points) and Alisha Fox (21) proved too much for Lindenwold to handle, paving the way for a 58-22 Gators home win.

Burlington County. Pemberton kept its Freedom Division title hopes alive, with Jasmine Smith (21 points) leading 10 Hornets in the scoring column in a 70-49 rout of visiting Burlington City. The Blue Devils wasted a 26-point outing by Courtney Davis.

Taylor Umbrell topped Delran's scoring with 17 points, and Aliyah Murray filled the stat sheet with 10 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals to highlight a 52-34 rout of Cinnaminson.

Double-figure scoring by Aubrey Babb (15 points), Kasandra Laws (12) and Alexis Powell (10) and a 43-13 start paved the way for Palmyra's 56-39 victory at Maple Shade.

Nikki McMonagle (16 points) led the way for Moorestown, which took control with a 17-6 second-quarter blitz en route to a 52-41 win at Westampton Tech. Alyssa Russell scored 18 for the hosts.

Friends Schools. Moorestown Friends survived a furious fourth-quarter rally by Westtown in holding on for a 42-39 road win. Kelcie Evans had nine points to pace the Foxes' balanced attack.

Nonleague. Alicia Bradley produced 20 points, eight rebounds, five steals and four assists while Burlington Township teammates Simi Adewumi and Amanda Bal combined for 25 rebounds, but the Falcons were victimized by a 20-9 fourth-quarter blitz that made host Hamilton West a 52-49 winner.
