Wed. S.J. boys' and girls roundup: Titles for Bordentown, N. Burlington

Bordentown, ranked No. 10 in South Jersey by The Inquirer, claimed the Patriot Division crown with a 33-30 win over visiting Delran that was clinched when Matt Bauer (18-1) earned a forfeit win at 215 pounds.

The Scotties built a 22-9 lead midway through the meet as Ted Rigas started the match with a major decision at 103, and Brandon Mazur managed a 3-2 decision at 130. Khalid Shakir (24-1 at 160 pounds) provided a 27-21 advantage with four bouts left.

The Liberty Division crown went to Northern Burlington with a 42-24 win at Moorestown. The Greyhounds piled up 15 points in the middle weights with a pin by Wayne Stinson (145 pounds) and decisions by Severo Cardenas (135), Harbinder Singh (140), and Harley Palyok (152).

Also in Burlington County, Tyler Mullarkey (130) and Dillon Tosto (189) had Holy Cross' only wins on the mat during a 51-21 victory at Maple Shade.

Colonial. Haddon Heights controlled the upper weights in a 48-29 triumph at Gateway, winning seven bouts from Phillip Azzari's pin at 145 to Ryan Thompson's forfeit at 285. The Garnets received consecutive first-period falls by Tyler Driver (152), Trevor Roberts (160), and Ted Hagenbucher (171).

Nate Finnegan needed just 21 seconds to get a pin in his 103-pound bout, and Stephen Holmes secured a 5-2 decision at 140 as Haddonfield dominated visiting Sterling, 66-10.

Audubon blanked visiting Overbrook, 61-0, as Keith Michalski had a shutout decision at 285, and Anthony White (171), Brian Flacco (189) and Bob Zettlemoyer (215) had consecutive pins.

Olympic. Ian Moy grabbed a second-period pin at 140 pounds, clinching Bishop Eustace's 37-23 win over visiting Cherry Hill West. The Crusaders jumped out to a 12-0 lead with decisions by Brandon Schwartz (152) and Zachary Grey (171), and a pin from Tyler Orfe (160).

In its 48-27 win at Triton, Washington Township won every bout from 112 to 145 pounds, including pins by Dylan LaPalomento (119), Steven Passarella (125), and Christian Matthew Salera (140).

Eastern's Derek Smith edged Pennsauken's Zachary Trost, 3-2, in a 160-pound feature match that helped the visiting Vikings win, 39-34. There were five first-minute pins, including Robert Deutsch's 42-second effort at 119 for Eastern and Isiah DeGuzman's 19-second fall for the Indians.

Visiting Lenape cruised past township rival Shawnee, 45-21, as Austin Wright (112) and Danny Kennedy (119) managed decisions in the lower weights, and Wesley Decker's pin at 152 started a sweep of six straight wins in the upper weights.

Seneca rolled past visiting Camden, 72-12, by winning four of the six contested weights with falls from Robert Bush (130), Jordan Peoples (135), Dan Bailey (140), and Nick Moore (160).

Tri-County. Mike Emma's 5-3 decision at 215 followed by Dan Garwood's 22-second pin at 285 fueled Clearview's 55-24 win over visiting Williamstown.

Eighth-ranked Delsea had seven pins during a 71-5 win at Highland. Jesse Swope had a pin in overtime at 103, Robert Keener had a technical fall at 171, and Curt Delia (135) had the quickest pin with a 27-second effort.

Cape-Atlantic. First-period pins by Deonde DeGennaro (160), Alex Gong (171), Brandon Goldberg (112), and Mike Jiampetti (119) aided Absegami's 54-24 success at Millville.

Nonleague. Ninth-ranked Collingswood knocked off No. 4 Camden Catholic, 36-28, in a Top 10 battle at Collingswood. The Panthers were helped by Jim Hatzell's 3-2 decision over Aaron Lambert at 135 pounds, Alex Irwin's 6-5 verdict over Frank Varallo at 140, and Ben Swan's 2-1 thriller over Joe Mazzochette at 189.

Hammonton subdued host Cinnaminson, 45-22, with solid decisions by Dennis Conway (125), Kenneth Brewer (130), and James Hiltwine (140).

New Egypt built a 44-12 lead and held on to beat visiting Marlboro, 48-24. The Warriors' Rigo Morfin notched a 10-second pin at 189 and Tyler Miller scored his points in the second period for a 3-0 decision at 171.

Boys' Basketball

Top-ranked and unbeaten St. Augustine needed an 11-2 overtime period to slip past host Lower Cape May, 75-66, in the Cape-Atlantic League.

Charles Monaghan tied the game in regulation with a foul shot with 25 seconds left and scored five of his 18 points in the extra period. LCM's Brandon Pascucci (24) hit a season-high six three-pointers.

Also in the Cape-Atlantic, Rahim Bunch's 20 points and Justin Williams' 18 steered Egg Harbor Township past visiting Hammonton, 62-48.

Holy Spirit ended visiting Bridgeton's three-game win streak, 70-60, as Jatecq Chesul poured in 30 points, including 14 in the opening period.

Girls' Basketball

Kristine Miller capped a 24-point performance by making one of two foul shots with 8.1 seconds left, boosting Cedar Creek to a 49-48 Cape-Atlantic League win at Our Lady of Mercy.

Also in the Cape-Atlantic, Jade Howard has 42 rebounds in her last two games after grabbing 19 and blocking three shots for St. Joseph in a 41-38 win over visiting Cape May Tech.

Brittany Harden scored nine of her 17 points in a lopsided 31-3 third quarter that iced Sacred Heart's 69-32 victory at Buena.

Holy Spirit also won easily, topping host Bridgeton, 68-22, with points from 11 players, including Angela Sacco with 21.

Kaci Youschak, a junior point guard, scored a dozen first-half points as Wildwood Catholic took a 33-16 lead at intermission, and the Crusaders beat visiting Pleasantville, 64-33. Youschak finished with a game-high 18 points plus five rebounds and two assists.
