Sat. S.J. wrestling roundup: Collingswood defeats Lenape, 45-20

Collingswood (10-2), ranked No. 10 in South Jersey by The Inquirer, swept six weight classes and piled up 33 points from Jim Hatzell's forfeit win at 135 to Taylor Venanzi's 7-4 decision at 171. Plianthos improved to 12-5 this season.

Eighth-ranked Lenape (7-3) got a 1-0 thriller from Doug Gilbert over Ervin Ray at 285.

In another Top 10 showdown, No. 6 Pennsville disposed of No. 7 West Deptford, 37-28, at West Deptford. Pennsville's Kenny Emmons edged Sean Bonner, 4-3, in a key bout at 160, and the winners swept the top five weights from 160 through heavyweight.

Olympic. Back-to-back pins by Jason Gallagher (125) and Marco Rodis (130) in the first two bouts ignited Bishop Eustace's 45-30 win over visiting Cherry Hill East. Zach Pharo came through with a clinching second-period pin at 112 pounds.

Cherokee, ranked No. 5, sailed through three lopsided matches at Winslow Township. The Chiefs topped the host Eagles, 65-3, and added a 75-6 win over Camden and a 73-3 win over Mainland.

Steve Nastasi was the lone Cherokee wrestler to earn three wins on the mat, chalking up two pins and a decision at 140 pounds. Zachary Faulkner edged Winslow's Eric Marshall, 2-1, in a feature bout at 152.

Winslow rebounded with a 45-25 win over Mainland in which William Solis-Mays edged Michael Anderson, 4-3, at 215.

Burlington County. Pins from Dan Pak (140), Billy Stokes (160), and Rich Rodavalho (189) combined with Mark Denny's 9-8 thriller over Thomas Dalton at 152 to steer Delran past visiting Burlington Township, 48-30.

The Bears also rolled to a 57-9 win over Willingboro and a 72-6 verdict over Palmyra. Pak had three wins on the mat, piling up a trio of pins.

Nonleague. Kingsway won two of three matches at Jackson Liberty, beating the hosts by 48-24; handing Toms River North a 45-36 setback; and losing to Central Regional, 57-17. For the Dragons, Archie Peterson had two pins and a decision at 152 pounds, and Billy Leone scored a pair of pins at 160.

Three pins by Brian Flacco (189) powered host Audubon to a trio of victories, 40-30 over Clayton, 72-6 over Gloucester Catholic, and 51-20 over St. Joseph.

Tim Anstotz's first-period pin at 130 clinched the win over Clayton. Also for the Green Wave, Chris Terlingo (152) had two first-period falls and Devin McMonagle (160) notched an 18-2 technical fall.

Haddon Heights swept a quad meet at Schalick, knocking off Highland, 45-18; sinking Lindenwold by 51-19; and adding a 54-17 verdict over the host Cougars. Heights was led by Padric Lynch's three pins at 189 pounds, Daniel Hovern (103) and Ted Hagenbucher (171) with two pins and a decision apiece, and Conner Powell (112) with a pin and two decisions.

Major decisions by Bordentown's Justin McTamney (119) and Matt Bauer (285) helped make the difference in the Scotties' 35-34 win at Cherry Hill West.

West won its own close match, 42-31, over Eastern with consecutive first-period pins by Evan Wayns (189) and Brian Smolsky (215), but the Lions were beaten, 53-12, by fourth-ranked Camden Catholic. The Irish's Matt Sausman (130), T.J. Miller (145), and Joe Mazzochette (171) contributed first-period pins.

Ninth-ranked Delsea (14-3) added three wins to its record, claiming a 73-6 win over Vineland, a 63-15 verdict over Penns Grove, and a 56-10 rout of Passaic Valley on its home mats.

The Crusaders were led by three pins each from Matt Hennelly (130) and Curt Delia (135), two pins and a decision each by Rick Azeglio (145) and Bryan Dobzanski (189), and John Hennelly's two pins and a technical fall at 112.

Also at Delsea, Vineland upended Penns Grove, 39-26, with Daniel DeTetta's 8-7 decision at 119, and the Clan was beaten, 42-28, by Passaic Valley.

Clearview brought back three wins from a quad meet at Gateway, beating the Gators, 63-15, and claiming a 45-22 win over Cinnaminson and a 51-9 verdict over Pitman. The Pioneers' lineup was highlighted by John VanBrill (119) and Andrew Hughes (171) with three pins each.

Also at Gateway, Padraic Kinnarney's 30-second pin at 130 led Pitman past Gateway, 57-23; Cinnaminson defeated Pitman, 33-30, with a key 4-3 decision by Joe Henderson (171); and Cinnaminson beat the Gators, 57-21, with Sam Udotong's pin in 1:08 at 125.

Rancocas Valley capped a sweep of a quad meet at Middle Township with a 33-24 victory over the Panthers, boosted by close decisions from Miles Parker (119), Shane Pastore (125), Robert Rein (152), and Chad Bauman (189).

Inspired by wins from Ralph Dayouhar (160), Carlton Blake (171), Justin Schnegelsberger (215) and Davonte Jones (285) in four of the five upper weights, Burlington City tripped visiting Pennsauken, 42-33.

Pennsauken came back with a 63-6 win over Riverside by winning five of the six contested bouts. Christopher Leon trimmed Eric Nevandusky, 4-3, at 145 pounds.
