Gateway football coach steps down

Mike Karp has resigned as Gateway football coach after two seasons.

This past season, Gateway went 1-9 and struggled with turnout, forfeiting a Nov. 5 game against Haddonfield because of an insufficient number of players.

Karp is a former player at Gateway and was an assistant coach for the Gators before being hired as head coach.

"Mike has committed himself as a player, an assistant coach, a defensive coordinator and a head coach to Gateway, and we appreciated his time and commitment to the program," athletic director Lou Raba said in a statement.
