Sat. S.J. football roundup: Camden wins on late field goal

Eddie Davis turned in a solid multipurpose game for Camden (5-3), catching five passes for 75 yards, making seven tackles, forcing two fumbles, intercepting a pass, and playing quarterback for two plays. One of those two plays resulted in the Panthers' only touchdown, a 32-yard scoring strike to Fred Jones for a 6-0 lead.

Glassboro (6-2), the Diamond Division champion, answered with Stephen Clement's 1-yard touchdown run 5 seconds before halftime, and the conversion kick put the Bulldogs ahead, 7-6.

Black's field goal came with 3 minutes, 54 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

Pennsauken 34, Eastern 7 - Amar Williams turned passes by quarterbacks into touchdowns, highlighting the host Indians' success.

Williams returned two interceptions for touchdowns in the second quarter, racing 40 and 75 yards for scores, and also caught a 22-yard scoring pass from Pennsauken (6-2) quarterback Manny Cortez.

Cortez opened the scoring in the game with a sneak, and Byron Rozier wrapped up the win with a 23-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.Pemberton 15, Hightstown 7 - Pemberton (3-5) built a 15-0 halftime advantage and held on to claim the win over the visiting Rams (3-5).

The Hornets' defense was instrumental in the win as Nate Brown returned an interception 35 yards for a touchdown, and junior linebacker Sultan Washington broke through for a safety.

Holy Cross 41, Bordentown 0 - Mark Zagunis passed for 193 yards and two touchdowns and Holy Cross (8-0) made host Bordentown (1-7) its second shutout victim.

Zagunis completed 10 of 14 passes, hitting Kevin Miller and Davone Swain for TDs.

The fifth-ranked Lancers got two touchdowns and 88 yards from Dai'Shon Munger.

Hamilton West 24, Rancocas Valley 23 - Rancocas' bid to tie the game late in the fourth quarter fell short as Ryan Carson's attempted conversion kick was blocked by host Hamilton West (5-3).

The Red Devils trailed by 24-10 before Jamie Williams scored on a 1-yard plunge, and Deshawn Jones added a 6-yard TD run.

Jones ran for 165 yards, and Rancocas (5-3) added 112 passing yards by Dillon Finelli, who hit 7 of 13 passes.

Pennsville 37, Gloucester Catholic 20 - Clint Herman kicked three field goals, and Pennsville (8-0) knocked off the host Rams (2-6).

Ken Emmons completed 14 of 20 passes for 193 yards and one touchdown, and Tim Haslett ran for a pair of scores.

Penns Grove 60, Pitman 0 - The Red Devils (7-1) scored at least 60 points in a game for the fourth time this fall and also chalked up their sixth straight shutout by blanking visiting Pitman (3-5).

Nick Elmer tossed a pair of TD passes, Jay Brown returned a kickoff 82 yards for a score, Malcolm Chase had a 66-yard punt return for a touchdown, and Daron Mills added a 17-yard interception return for another score.

Colonial

Will Stallworth scored twice in the fourth quarter to rally Sterling to a 20-12 win at Haddon Township (1-7).

The Silver Knights (2-6) took a 13-12 lead on Stallworth's 35-yard fumble return, and Stallworth caught a 70-yard TD pass from Marcus Taylor with 1:48 to play.

Cape-Atlantic

Phillip Paulhill returned a second-quarter kickoff 89 yards to put St. Joseph (7-1) ahead to stay en route to a 20-7 win over visiting Egg Harbor Township (5-3).

The Eagles led briefly, 7-6, on a 1-yard plunge by Stephan Thomas.

Vineland 40, Middle Township 20 - Brian Winchester carried the ball a dozen times and scored four touchdowns while steering Vineland (4-4) to a win at Middle Township (1-7). Winchester finished with 118 rushing yards.

Marcus Nelson and Darius Flowers also ran for Clan TDs, and the Panthers' Nigel Case scored the game's first and last touchdowns.
