Tues. S.J. girls’ roundup: Gloucester wins Classic with shutout

Johanna James keyed a fast start with a first-half hat trick for host Gloucester, which handcuffed Clayton, 6-0, on Tuesday to clinch the Tri-County Conference Classic Division field hockey crown.

The Lions improved to 11-1 overall and 9-0 in divisional play, while James, a junior, boosted her season goal total to 19.

Karlee Henderson's goal and two assists led the Woodstown attack, as the host Wolverines (10-2, 8-1) retained the top spot in the Diamond Division by defeating Penns Grove, 5-0.

Alexa McIntyre connected off a feed from Emily Poole with just under 16 minutes left in the second half, and host Kingsway held on to nip Delsea, 2-1. Crusaders goalie Kelsey DiBenedetto was credited with 20 saves.

Jessica Harrell scored one goal and set up another, and Schalick goalie Giselle Ramos came through with 11 saves in a 4-1 win at Pitman.

Olympic. Keli Margiotta's two goals highlighted a 34-shot effort by Washington Township in a 6-1 rout at Cherokee.

Victoria Radwell had three goals and one assist while teammate Nicole Troost turned in a goal and three assists, as host Shawnee completed a perfect run through the Patriot Division by pounding Pennsauken, 6-1.

Cape-Atlantic. Ocean City ran its record to 11-0, getting two goals from Molly Guldin and a goal and two assists from Mackenzie Lindquist in a 9-0 rout of visiting Vineland.

Freshman center-forward Corrine Etter produced two goals and three assists in carrying Millville to a 6-1 win at Atlantic City.

Absegami netminder Michele McCann stopped 14 shots, but the host Braves couldn't mount an attack to prevent Mainland from securing a 5-0 win.

A potential tying goal by host Delran was ruled to have entered the net after time expired, preserving Rancocas Valley's 1-0 win in a wild Burlington County League match.

Alyssa Findlay ran onto a through ball to put the Red Devils ahead to stay with 13 minutes remaining in regulation, and Mallory Cicchino made eight saves in keeping the Bears off the scoreboard.

Colonial. Katie Johnston netted three goals in the first 26 minutes of the match, paving the way for host Haddonfield's 4-0 victory over Audubon. Lindsay Brophy made five stops in posting the shutout.

Olympic. Junior center-midfielder Kelly Farrell celebrated her first varsity hat trick, pumping in three goals in the first half to send host Timber Creek to a 5-1 triumph over Seneca.

Allegra Ondrejka converted a pass from Ashley Hawkins five minutes into the second half, and Kylie Gorman (six saves) made the lead stand up as host Washington Township edged Cherokee, 1-0.

Erica Graziosi knocked home Jenna Pedrick's corner kick late in the first half, and host Paul VI continued to rule the National Division with a 3-0 victory over Camden Catholic.

Bishop Eustace received scoring from six players in rolling, 6-0, at Triton.

Tri-County. Mandy Hall's two goals paced a balanced attack for Clayton, which poured it on in the second half to put away host Deptford, 6-2.

Nikki Adams capped her hat trick with a pair of late goals, sealing Schalick's 5-0 win at Gloucester.

Eighth-seeded Eastern upset top-seeded Toms River South, 3-2, to highlight the South Jersey Group 4 girls' tennis quarterfinals.

The Vikings will take to the road again on Thursday for a semifinal match at fifth-seeded Clearview.

Pam Kaur's 6-4, 6-3 victory over Alexis Brown at third singles provided the difference as Clearview upended No. 4 seed Vineland, 3-2.

The Pioneers (10-3) fell at first and second singles but swept both doubles matches to advance.

South Jersey Group 3. Second-seeded Kingsway battled past No. 7 seed Seneca, 3-2, thanks in part to Alicia Gechter's 6-3, 6-4 victory at second singles.

South Jersey Group 2. Taylor Ng coasted to a 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles, and her Haddonfield teammates followed suit as the top-seeded Bulldogs dispatched No. 9 seed Buena, 5-0.

Haddonfield will host fifth-seeded Cinnaminson - a 3-2 winner over fourth-seeded Lower Cape May - in a semifinal on Thursday.

Alyson Gilmore and Alexandra Podosek rallied for a 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 win at second doubles, helping third-seeded Woodstown to cruise past No. 6 seed Barnegat, 5-0.

The Wolverines will try to carry their momentum into Thursday's semifinal at second-seeded Manasquan.

South Jersey Non-Public A. Meredith Patterson and Nicole Filipek pulled out a 6-3, 6-1 triumph at second doubles to complete third-seeded Bishop Eustace's 5-0 quarterfinal romp over No. 6 seed Bishop Ahr.

South Jersey Non-Public B. Top-seeded Moorestown Friends made quick work of No. 8 seed St. Rose of Belmar, 5-0, in a sectional quarterfinal.

The Foxes' most competitive match came at second doubles, with Logan Horn and Lauren Joffe prevailing, 6-2, 5-7, 7-6 (11-9).

Next up for Moorestown Friends is a semifinal match at home on Thursday against fourth-seeded Sacred Heart. The Lions advanced with a 4-1 win over No. 5 seed Cardinal McCarrick.
