Haddon Township, Haddonfield soccer teams to meet again
The seeds held to form in an all-Colonial South Jersey Group 2 girls' soccer semifinal. Top seeded-Haddon Township will host No. 2 seed Haddonfield in Thursday's sectional final after both won difficult semifinal matches on Monday.
Sarah Dudek headed in a pass from Kathleen Jordan less than five minutes into the game as Haddonfield defeated No. 3 seeded West Deptford, 1-0.
Haddon Township allowed a goal before its semifinal was two minutes old, but the Hawks then scored the final three goals in a 3-1 victory over fourth-seeded Haddon Heights.
A few minutes after surrendering the first goal, Haddon Township got the equalizer on Lauren McCutcheon's 22-yard blast of a direct kick.
The Hawks then broke the tie after earning a penalty kick on a Haddon Heights hand ball with 27:28 left in the second half. Jess Dochney converted the penalty kick.
Less than three minutes later, Haddon Township received an insurance goal from Carly Francis, who drilled a shot from 25-yards out.
During the regular season Haddonfield beat Haddon Township, 2-1, and the sectional final is expected to be just as tight.
