Holy Cross narrowly remained the only team in the Burlington County League Patriot Division boys' soccer standings with an unbeaten division record, escaping with a 2-1 overtime thriller at New Egypt yesterday.
Ron Valdner gave New Egypt (5-4 overall, 2-3 division) a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute of the second half, but the Lancers (5-3, 4-0), who owned a 20-4 advantage in shots, knotted the score on Brendan Reilly's penalty kick with just 1:45 left.
Colin Reilly provided the game-winner 1:02 into overtime on a pass from Will Culp. Warriors goalie Dave Wenskowski made 15 saves.
Also in Burlington County, Rancocas Valley gained some breathing room in the Liberty Division, topping second-place Moorestown, 3-1. Alex Kustas and Alec Golini scored the Red Devils' first two goals to provide the lead for good.
Cinnaminson's Max DiLeo scored off an assist by Mick Kostiuk with seven minutes left in the first half and the Pirates settled for a 1-1 tie with visiting Delran. Jackson Machado scored an early goal for the Bears.
Matt Lynch scored off a pass from Luke Capritti with 25 minutes left in the first half for the only goal Burlington Township needed to get past host Northern Burlington, 1-0.
Helder DaSilva contributed two goals to Riverside's 3-2 verdict at Florence.
Maple Shade's balanced attack produced a 6-0 win at Medford Tech with single goals by Kevin Bowman, John Fuss, Riley Hamilton, Josh Crossley, Patrick Gaffney and Mayron Vieira.
Tri-County. Clearview survived a late scare as host Delsea had two shots bounce off the goal posts in the last seven minutes of Clearview's 1-0 win. Dylan Oldt scored an unassisted goal, and Pioneers goalie Steve Keane made nine saves.
Cumberland also notched a 1-0 shutout, stopping host Highland on Kyle Mecouch's goal off Joel Ono's corner kick in the first half.
Shayne Feriod assisted on Garrick Adamson's goal, and scored the game-winner from Nick Bono 40 seconds into the first overtime period as Glassboro squeezed past visiting Pennsville, 2-1. Shaune Gorman had the Eagles' goal.
Pat Kelly finished a breakaway for the winning goal, and Dean Schaber added an insurance score as Deptford topped off host Kingsway, 2-0.
Drew Geiger assisted on first-half goals by Fran Smith and Ben Tucker, starting Woodstown's 3-0 win over visiting Gloucester County Tech. Evan Hathaway also scored a goal.
Olympic. Cherry Hill West maintained its Patriot Division lead with a 3-0 win at Winslow Township. Trevor Sharpe scored twice, Fernando Freitas had a goal, and goalie Chris Baines stopped eight Eagles shots.
Cape-Atlantic. Keith Scott, who scored earlier, sent a through-ball to Matt Veltri, who tapped in the winning goal 8:30 into overtime, lifting Oakcrest past visiting Atlantic City, 3-2. Victor Valladares scored both Vikings' goals.
Pat McCord's unassisted goal snapped a 1-1 deadlock and gave Absegami a 2-1 success against visiting Vineland. The Braves' Daniel Galeano and Vineland's Chaun King traded earlier goals.
Tony Vorndran's goal from Mitch Grotti in the first half buoyed Millville toward a 1-0 win over visiting Egg Harbor Township. Bolts goalie J. C. Maldonado made 11 saves.
Dorian Levecchia's goal five minutes into the game stood up for Hammonton's 1-0 win at Mainland.
