Cinnaminson's Mario Patrizi is Brooks-Irvine Coach of Year

The coach led the Pirates to an 8-3 record, a share of the division title and an upset of second-seeded Camden in the first round of the South Jersey Group 2 tournament.

Cinnaminson's Mario Patrizi was named coach of the year Monday night at the 73rd annual Brooks-Irvine Memorial Football Club banquet.

Patrizi led Cinnaminson to an 8-3 record and a share of the West Jersey Football League Liberty Division title.

As the No. 7 seed in the South Jersey Group 2 tournament, Cinnaminson upset No. 2 seed Camden at Farnham Park in the first round before falling to eventual champion Haddonfield in the sectional semifinals.

Patrizi, a Camden Catholic graduate, has a 75-48 record in 12 seasons at Cinnaminson. His teams are 40-12 since 2013, with records of 8-2, 9-2, 8-2, 7-3 and 8-3.

The coach of the year announcement was the highlight of the annual banquet at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Cherry Hill.

The event also honored the all-South Jersey football team, as selected by the Inquirer in conjunction with area coaches.

Pete Orio of West Deptford, John Donegan of Paul VI, Dorien Forbes of Deptford, and Paul Biernacki of Bishop Eustace were honored with the club's scholar-athlete awards.

The club also honored college players Anthony Averett of Alabama (Woodbury), Ed Shockley of Villanova (Millville), Abdullah Anderson of Absegami (Bucknell), Isaiah Baylor of Albright (Triton), and Kali Boyce of Albright (Williamstown).

Seneca was presented with the club's Sportsmanship Award.
