For the second time in two weeks, Villanova recruit Ryan Arcidiacono sat out of a high profile AAU tournament due to injury.

Over the weekend, the Neshaminy point guard missed the Orlando AAU Super Showcase due to a back muscle strain, according to PA Playaz head coach Gene Rice. The Playaz went 1-3 as they participated in the elite Gold Division, facing some of the nation’s top AAU teams.

Rice said the injury is not serious and he just wanted to be cautious. Arcidiacono missed the West Virginia Jam Fest from July 14-16 due to which he referred to at that time as a sore hip. Along with Rice, Arcidiacono had said he expected to play in Orlando.

“It’s just a little thing, so I’m taking my time. I’m just resting a bit.” Arcidiacono said two weeks ago.

In the team’s final game in Orlando, the Playaz played in front of a crowd that included Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski, Connecticut’s Jim Calhoun, Florida’s Billy Donovan and Villanova’s Jay Wright. In that game,, the Playaz climbed back from a 24-point deficit to get within three before falling to BABC, the top team in the nation.

He missed the Conshy tourney with back problems. If this kid is this fragile, how will he survive a college season from Mid November to hopefully the first weekend in April?

Why show case talent when he has VU locked up? No sense showing up injured? He needs to keep pursuing Amile Jefferson to come to VU!!

There is something amdist here. There is no reason to hide at all. Ryan is talented and he should be playing in these high level tourneys, period point blank. All the top guards play against the best every chance they get. If you think he is locked up, Jay Wright will recruit over him. The PG from Team Philly is better than him right now and so is the 2 post grad guards from the friends league. That might hurt but it's the truth. Arch needs to get it going and take his spot back.
