Imhotep Charter point guard Brandon Austin gave an oral commitment to play basketball at Penn State Thursday night.

The 6-foot-6 junior chose the Nittany Lions over scholarship offers from Temple, Syracuse, Georgetown, Villanova, Miami, Tennessee and Rutgers. Austin averages 13 points and 7.5 assists for the Panthers.

I can see a football recruit choosing PSU over some of those other schools but PSU instead of Temple, Syracuse, Georgetown and Villanova for basketball!

Pat Chambers has better gfacilities than most programs, has a top ranked university with post graduate networking unlike 99% of schools.

Smart kid. Remember what U COnn was before Jim Calhoun and Mr Clifford Robinson. It was PSU pre-Chambers.

    Attitude!!!

Can't wait to see you Brandon.

I am glad for Penn State to have at least gotten a recruit, even if it is for basketball. The word is out, that many of their football recruits have not just second thoughts about going to state, third and fourth takes on the situation in unhappy valley. It is a darn shame how just a few people could cause such pain to a great university and a formerly great football program. I wish the Sanducky trial were done and over with unfortunately, this will drag on and reach all the way to Harrisburg and ruin many a political creer on the way, beside setting back the "Lions for several seasons.

would you ever think that a potentially good bb player would choose PS over TU? If he's a player he goes to TU.

PSU has a tough battle when it comes to recruiting against the other teams listed. Good get for Chambers, who is a very good coach. Temple already has a PG for next season and he would have to wait to play at the other schools too.
