Wildcats ranked No. 15
After beating William and Mary, Villanova moves up in FCS Top-25 poll.
The Wildcats (3-2, 2-0 Colonial Athletic Association) will face third-ranked Towson (6-0, 2-0) on Saturday.
North Dakota State (6-0) topped the poll. The Bison have had two wins this season in which they scored over 50 points.
Lehigh (4-1) was No. 17.
Navy athletic director Chet Gladchuk said Monday he and school officials were providing more information to the Defense Department to show the academy will not use government funds to travel to Durham, N.C., to play Duke on Saturday.
Air Force plays a home game against Mountain West Conference rival San Diego State on Thursday night. Army is at home against Eastern Michigan. Spokesmen for both academies said the teams are preparing to play.
USC: coaching calls bogus. Southern California athletic director Pat Haden says people pretending to be school officials have contacted one NFL assistant and a former coach and attempted to discuss the Trojans' head coaching vacancy.
Haden says somebody repeatedly tried to speak to an unnamed member of the Denver Broncos' coaching staff about the opening.
Another phony representative contacted Tony Dungy, the former Tampa Bay and Indianapolis coach.
Southern Cal has identified the posers and is taking "appropriate action," Haden said Monday in a blog post.
The Trojans (3-2, 0-2 Pac-12) fired Lane Kiffin last month and installed Ed Orgeron as their interim coach.
Noteworthy. Pittsburgh coach Paul Chryst said QB Tom Savage (Cardinal O'Hara), who has been suffering from concussion-like symptoms, will be available when the Panthers meet Virginia Tech on Saturday.
