Collingswood blanks Overbrook in football

Collingswood consistently brought the ball right up to the goal line in a 33-0 road victory against West Jersey League Colonial Division rival Overbrook on Saturday. Michael Taulane ran for 2-yard touchdowns twice, while Michael Jenkins and Robert Upshur both ran for 5-yard touchdowns twice.

West Jersey League Memorial Division. Woodbury defeated Lindenwold, 40-14. A fourth-quarter rally was not enough for visiting Lindenwold to overcome a steep deficit. Lindenwold headed into the fourth quarter down, 28-0, and managed touchdowns from Jhaki Johnson, but Woodbury's late touchdowns by Keyshaun Christain and Cameron Berger put the game away.

West Jersey League Diamond Division. Rivals Salem and Pennsville battled it out in a high-scoring game that saw host Salem come out victorious, 46-35. Pennsville's Nicholas Bard started it all in the first quarter with an 86-yard kickoff return. That was soon matched by a 63-yard run by Salem's Jonathan Taylor.

Taylor went on to score once more in the second quarter with a 75-yard run and finished with a total of 25 rushes for 276 yards. Salem's Zaire Jones scored three touchdowns, ending his streak with an 80-yard run in the fourth quarter. Jones' total for the game was 15 rushes for 166 yards. Pennville's P.J. Halter was 13 for 23 with 170 yards. Teammate Nicholas Bard had 19 rushes for 132 yards.

West Jersey League Constitution Division. Pennsauken won on the road, 20-13, over Camden. Djuan Fooks-Phillips began their scoring with a touchdown in the second quarter. That was followed by touchdown runs by Martin Booker in each consecutive quarter. Camden came up short with touchdowns from Jajuan Hudson and Kevin Smith.

Girls' Soccer

In the Burlington County league, Moorestown shut out Northern Burlington, 3-0 at home. Caroline Mabrey, Quinn Nicolai, and Cierra Ward had goals in the victory, with keeper Alex Cabal recording nine saves.

Boys' Soccer

Clearview topped visiting Sterling, 2-0, in first- round play of the South Jersey Coaches Tournament. The two goals were by Harmon Nuss and Zach Wurst.

Nonleague. Williamstown shut out Haddon Township, 3-0 at home. Goals came from Bryce Monahan, Cullen Rutter, and Kyle Uzdavines. Assists were by Nick Roback, Alex Rossi, and Conner Dix.

Field Hockey

Haddon Township squeaked out a victory over Paul VI, 5-4, at home in non-league play. Paul's Molly McAndrews contributed two goals in their competitive game, with Natalie Burns and Marie Green each scoring once. Haddown Township's Julia Haigh and Tori Howard each had two goals, with another from Regan Dougherty to give them the win. Goalkeeping for Haddon Township was split between Josie Crowley with four saves and Tori Trout with six saves.

Girls' Volleyball

West Jersey Interscholatic Volleyball's second annual "Spiketoberfest" tournement crowned Princeton champion. Princeton went undefeated throughout the tournament. The championship game saw Princeton take on West Windsor-Plainsboro South. Burlington County teams Moorestown and Rancocas Valley rounded out the top four.

After being founded last year with 10 schools, the volleyball league expanded this year to now include 14 schools. An all-star game is scheduled for Nov. 17 at Cinnamonson High.
