Kelly strikes out nine as Carroll defeats O'Hara

The junior pitcher has 39 strikeouts and has allowed only nine earned runs in 29 innings this season.

Kevin Downs went 2 for 4 with a double while Chris Altopiedi went 2 for 3 for the Patriots.

Elsewhere in Catholic League baseball action:

Joey Lancellotti hit a three-run home run in Archbishop Wood's 11-run third inning in a 12-4 rout of host Lansdale Catholic.

Ryan Logan went 4 for 5 with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored for the Vikings.

Steve Furman, Tim Dougherty, and Matt Staiber doubled for visiting Bonner-Prendergast in a 3-2 win over Conwell-Egan.

Furman finished the day 3 for 4 with a run scored while Dougherty knocked in two runs for the Friars.

Chris Higgins earned the win and Nick Newbert picked up the save in Father Judge's 5-3 victory at Archbishop Ryan.

Chris Lutz went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for the Crusaders while Bill Kelly brought home another two runs.

Greg Grandelli pitched all seven innings, striking out four, to lead Roman Catholic past visiting Bishop McDevitt, 8-0.

Grandelli also picked up two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs for the Cahillites.

With the game tied, 4-4, Aidan Bauer got his second hit of the day with an RBI single in the sixth inning to begin a four-run rally in Neumann-Goretti's 8-4 triumph over host St. Joseph's Prep.

Jeff Ciocco earned his second win of the season with five strikeouts and no earned runs allowed for the Saints.

Central League. Facing only 26 batters, junior Jared Morris tossed a seven-inning shutout with nine strikeouts to lift Springfield past visiting Conestoga, 1-0.

With one out in the fourth inning, Nick Gorman doubled for the only extra-base hit of the game. He went on to score the lone run of the contest on a Morris single.

Ches-Mont League. Ryan Tench pitched a seven-inning shutout in West Chester Henderson's 1-0 victory over visiting Downingtown East.

Chase Longenecker hit a sacrifice fly to bring Zach Roberts home in the fourth inning for the lone run.

Nonleague. Trailing 1-0 through five innings, Perkiomen School rallied in the sixth to dispatch Friends' Central, 4-1. Levi Stoudt drove in two runs for the Panthers.

Public League Division A. Xavier Sanchez led off the game with a double, which proved to be the only extra-base hit of the game in Frankford's 2-1 win at Washington.

Edgardo Bernard pitched a seven-inning two-hitter to earn the win.
