Pa. girls: Barker scores six to lead Agnes Irwin to victory

Host Agnes Irwin picked up a key nonleague girls' lacrosse win Tuesday, defeating Central Pennsylvania power Manheim Township, 16-6.

Host Agnes Irwin picked up a key nonleague girls' lacrosse win Tuesday, defeating Central Pennsylvania power Manheim Township, 16-6.

Lila Barker led all scorers with six goals for the Owls (5-4, 1-1 Inter-Ac) and goalie Hailey Andress made nine saves to anchor a strong defensive effort.

Laura Pansini scored twice and added four assists, while her sister Natalie chipped in her first hat trick. Another sister, Maria Pansini, added two goals.

Kate White dominated the midfield with five draw controls and Sarah Platt scooped up four ground balls.

Elsewhere in nonleague lacrosse action:

After leading 9-8 at halftime, Germantown Friends would need overtime to overcome visiting Shipley, 15-14.

Priyanka Jaim found twine four times while Ceila Meyer added four goals and two assists to the Tiger offense. Corrine Grady made 11 saves with three coming in the extra period.

Catholic Academies. Trailing 7-5 at halftime, Merion Mercy rallied past visiting Gwynedd Mercy, 14-12, behind Kaely Kyle's game-high six goals.

Caroline Steller added a hat trick for the Golden Bears. Lauren Thomas and Mary Kate Markey split time between the pipes for Merion Mercy, recording three and two saves, respectively. Gabby Tanner notched six saves in a losing effort for the Monarchs.

Central. Hannah Ashton led all scoring with four goals and an assist in Conestoga's 11-6 triumph over host Harriton.

Liz Scott and Paige Loose each contributed two goals and an assist for the Pioneers while Jules Hornig made five saves.

Softball

Ellie Leventis went 52/3 innings with 10 strikeouts while only surrendering one hit and no earned runs to lead Washington past visiting Mariana Bracetti, 12-2, in Public League Gold play.

Heather Hodkins and Felicia Padilla each recorded a triple for the Eagles.

In other Public League Gold action:

Jada Arrington carried host Central over Kensington, 13-0, with nine strikeouts. Emily Lorenz and Maddie Duffy each hit doubles while Duffy also bagged a triple.

Public League Bronze. Maritime Academy clubbed visiting West Philadelphia, 18-3, in three innings with a whopping 19 hits.

Nina Day earned the win while Brianna Gerbe recorded a double and six RBIs for the Maritime Academy offense.
