Boys' and girls' basketball: District 1 seedings

The PIAA District 1 boys' and girls' basketball seedings were determined in a committee meeting Sunday morning at Council Rock South.

The PIAA District 1 boys' and girls' basketball seedings were determined in a committee meeting Sunday morning at Council Rock South.

Coatesville, Plymouth Whitemarsh, Downingtown West, and Ridley, which takes on Conestoga for the Central League title Monday at Marple Newtown, are the top seeds in the Class AAAA boys' tournament that is scheduled to start Friday night.

Defending district champion Abington, the No. 6 seed, opens at home vs. No. 27 Upper Dublin.

On the girls' side, North Penn, Perkiomen Valley, Garnet Valley, and Mount St. Joseph are the top seeds in the Class AAAA tourney that is slated to begin Saturday.

North Penn meets Central Bucks West, the No. 10 seed and defending district titlist, for the Suburban One League Challenge crown at 6 p.m. Monday at Bensalem.

All seedings are not official until noon Monday.
