Voshon Mack was determined to flip the script.

The senior forward scored 10 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter, sparking Paul VI to a 65-62 victory over Woodbury on Saturday in the Tri-State Showcase at Bishop Eustace.

Junior guard Keenan Wise scored 18 points, including a key three-point jumper in the fourth quarter, and senior guard Lonnie Moore added 17 for Paul VI's Eagles (7-11).

The victory came after a stretch of four losses in five games, including an eight-point loss to No. 10 Cherokee, a two-point loss to Medford Tech, and a five-point loss to No. 9 Bishop Eustace.

"It's been frustrating," Mack said. "It feels good to win a game like this."

Said Moore: "We feel like we're a better team than our record says. It's great to win a close game like this."

Senior Darius Triplett scored 22 with 12 rebounds and junior Ja'Zere Noel scored 20 with 13 rebounds for Woodbury (13-5), the No. 23 team in The Inquirer's Top 25.

"These are the games you want to play to get ready for the playoffs," Thundering Herd coach Justin Barringer said. "Facing adversity, pressure situations, it's good for us. We'll learn from this."

Mack's inside scoring helped Paul VI forge a 60-56 lead with around three minutes to play.

After two Triplett free throws, Wise buried a three-pointer to give Paul VI a 63-58 lead.

"That was a big shot," Paul VI coach Tony Devlin said.

The 6-foot-4 Mack, who played much of the game as Paul VI's lone big man on the floor, shot 5 for 6 from the field in the fourth quarter and also grabbed three rebounds.

"I felt like I needed to step up," Mack said. "We've been struggling in these close games. I felt like it was time to make plays for my team."
