Garnet Valley, Springfield (Delco) to meet for Central crown

Springfield edged Conestoga, 38-35. Garnet Valley topped Harriton, 48-40.

Jordan D'Ambrosio shot 5 for 6 from the foul line in the fourth quarter as Springfield's Cougars did enough to stop Conestoga's late rally. D'Ambrosio finished with a game-high 17 points.

Emily McAteer led Garnet Valley with 19 points and 10 rebounds as the Jaguars outscored Harriton by 11 points in the fourth quarter. Sam Tomasetti chipped in with six rebounds.

Garnet Valley and Springfield will meet on Monday at Marple Newtown.

Catholic Academies. Mount St. Joseph and Gwynedd Mercy split their two regular-season meetings this season. The stakes will be raised for matchup No. 3.

Both teams won to secure spots in the Catholic Academies final on Tuesday. Mount St. Joseph topped St. Basil, 33-9. Gwynedd Mercy topped Merion Mercy, 55-20.

Libby Tacka led the Mount with nine points, three assists, two rebounds, and two steals. Caitlyn Cunningham made four steals and Kristen Lucas grabbed four rebounds. The final at La Salle High will be the Magic's 10th straight championship game.

Brigit Coleman scored a game-high 22 points as Gwynedd Mercy rolled. Erica DeCandido chipped in with 17 points.

Suburban One. Mikaela Giuliani's 17 points helped North Penn top Neshaminy, 44-39, in the semifinal at Council Rock North. The Maidens will meet Central Bucks West in the championship game Monday at Bensalem.

Ches-Mont. Bishop Shanahan's quest for a repeat title will come against a familiar foe. Shanahan and Downingtown East won their semifinal games at Oxford to set up a rematch of last season's league final.

Devon Adams scored 12 points to power Bishop Shanahan past West Chester Rustin, 43-32. Courtney Worley and Ciara Forde each scored 10 points.

Paige Warfel scored 15 points and Laura Ochsner added 12 points as Downingtown East survived Great Valley's attempt at a buzzer-beater and won 41-40.

East and Shanahan will meet on Tuesday at West Chester East.

Boys' Basketball

Conestoga topped Strath Haven, 42-40, in the Central League semifinal at Haverford High.

The Pioneers advance to meet Ridley in the league final on Tuesday night at Marple-Newtown. Ridley had a bye in the semifinals after finishing undefeated.
