S.J. boys: Murphy becomes Gloucester Catholic's wins leader

John Murphy earned his fourth, and perhaps, most significant victory this season in Gloucester Catholic's 12-5 home triumph over Bergen Catholic in a nonleague matchup Saturday.

The win was also Murphy's 27th career victory, moving him past Cody Brown as the Rams' all-time leader in pitching victories.

Tre Todd doubled twice and went 2 for 3 to drive in four. Anthony Harrold and Jake Gillis doubled.

Also in nonleague action:

Mike Calabrese doubled as Highland topped visiting Penns Grove, 10-2. Nick Yodor struck out six in five innings to earn the win.

Chris Mormile fanned 13 and went the distance as Wildwood edged Lower Cape May on the road, 3-0.

Camden County Tournament. Jesse Ludwick was 2 for 5 with five RBIs as visiting Triton edged Haddonfield, 14-10. Pat Ryder drove in two on three hits.

Warrior Classic. Brandon Acetti earned a win, and went 3 for 6, including a double, and drove in three runs as LEAP Academy topped Wildwood Catholic, 11-2, in the quarterfinals, and Lower Cape May, 6-4, in the semifinals, at Wildwood.

Burlington County. Sam Guckin scored the lone run in Delran's 1-0 win over host Riverside. He also tossed a complete game, striking out 10.

Connor Truncer and Pat Bruce each knocked in two runs and scored one as host Holy Cross beat Bordentown, 5-3. Truncer and Brandon Simmons doubled.

Lacrosse

Timmy Carroll netted three goals as Cherokee topped Notre Dame in overtime on the road, 8-7. Jordan Krug and Jesse Streb each scored two in the nonleague game.

Tennis

Marcus Mitchell of Hammonton defeated Delsea's Austin Rabut, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3, to claim the Tri-County Conference Showcase singles crown at Williamstown. The Cumberland duo of Andrew MacDonald and James Thompson took the doubles title with a 7-6, 7-2 win over Noah Papiano and Ricardo Savarese of Schalick.
