Pa. Girls: Pa. girls: Compton's walk-off lifts Neshaminy over Bensalem

Freshman Amber Brugger earned the first win of her career, tossing a complete game with six stikeouts.

Jackie Morell went the distance for Bensalem, striking out four batters and walking one.

Catholic. Emily Shellenberger pitched a one-hit shutout for Little Flower in a 6-0 win at Archbishop Carroll. Allison Corson and Colleen Trahey each went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs.

Pioneer. Megan Kern went 4 for 4 with a pair of triples, a double, and four RBIs in Spring-Ford's 13-1 rout at Phoenixville. Becca Faust had a pair of hits and scored three runs.

Lacrosse

Trailing by seven goals at one point, Notre Dame rallied to edge visiting Episcopal Academy, 13-12, in an Inter-Ac matchup. Claire Nappi netted the winner with 1 minute, 30 seconds remaining. Nappi and Caroline Allen each scored four goals. Julia Dambly had a hat trick. Corinne Zanolli scored three goals for Episcopal.

Nonleague. With 35 seconds remaining, Perri Keehfuss scored on a free position for her second goal of the game and gave Penn Charter a 9-8 win over Downingtown West at home. Hannah Fox, Meredith Chernak, and Macaul Mellor each scored twice.

Basketball

Chuck Creighton stepped down as Archbishop Carroll's girls' basketball coach after eight seasons. Creighton guided the Patriots to a 178-48 record (.788 winning percentage), three Catholic League championships, and two PIAA state titles (Class AAAA in 2012 and AAA in 2009).

"I would like to thank the Carroll administration, my assistant coaches, the stat man, and the managers for all their support over their years," Creighton said. "Most importantly, I'd like to thank all the great young ladies that I've had the opportunity to coach."
