Women's College Basketball: 3 local women's teams reach CACC semifinals

Philadelphia University reached the semifinals of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's basketball tournament, which it will host Friday. Other quarterfinal winners Saturday were the University of the Sciences, Holy Family, and Caldwell.

Other quarterfinal winners Saturday were the University of the Sciences, Holy Family, and Caldwell.

Philadelphia U. 82, Dominican 63 - Najah Jacobs (Central) scored a game-high 29 points as the Rams (21-7) defeated visiting Dominican (15-14). Mary Newell (Villa Joseph Marie) added 17 points. The Rams will face Caldwell at 2 p.m. Friday.

Caldwell 87, Goldey-Beacom 85 - Freshman Lexi Bruno (Millville) scored a season-best 30 points for the Lightning (13-16), who fell in overtime to the Cougars (19-10) in Caldwell, N.J.

Univ. of the Sciences 86, Post 49 - Brianne Traub scored 27 points and pulled down 11 rebounds for the Devils (20-7), the top seed in the South Division, in their win over the visiting Eagles (7-21).

Holy Family 60, Bloomfield 46 - The Tigers will make their 11th trip in the last 12 years to the CACC semifinals after beating the reigning champions in Bloomfield, N.J. Erin Fenningham (St. Basil) scored a game-high 13 points.

Holy Family (18-10), seeded third in the South, will face Sciences at noon Friday. Bloomfield finished at 17-10.

Temple 79, East Carolina 69 - The Owls (15-15, 11-6 American Athletic Conference) snapped the visiting Pirates' six-game winning streak.

On senior day, Tyonna Williams had 13 points and three assists. Erica Covile (22 points) shared scoring honors with I'Tiana Taylor of East Carolina (19-9, 10-7).

Penn 59, Yale 33 - The Quakers (18-7, 9-2 Ivy League) clinched a postseason berth with a win over the Bulldogs (12-14, 6-6) at the Palestra.

Princeton 79, Brown 67 - Michelle Miller had 20 points off the bench, and No. 14 Princeton (27-0, 11-0 Ivy) remained the only undefeated Division I women's team by beating the visiting Bears (10-16, 4-8).
