ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Gary Stal of France came from 10 shots back Sunday to capitalize on an improbable meltdown by Martin Kaymer and win the Abu Dhabi Championship after a frantic final round.

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Gary Stal of France came from 10 shots back Sunday to capitalize on an improbable meltdown by Martin Kaymer and win the Abu Dhabi Championship after a frantic final round.

Kaymer looked as if he was cruising to a fourth title in Abu Dhabi after making three birdies in his opening four holes to extend his 6-stroke lead from overnight, only to drop 6 shots in seven holes around the turn.

"A little shocked, surprised," Kaymer said. "I don't know how to put it into words."

The No. 357-ranked Stal pounced with six birdies from Nos. 4-11 and held himself together down the stretch, picking up another shot at the 16th to capture his first European Tour title. He shot a 7-under 65 and was 19-under 269 overall.

Top-ranked Rory McIlroy finished a shot behind Stal. Kaymer shot 75 and took third at 17 under.

PGA

HONOLULU - One week after losing in a playoff on Maui, Jimmy Walker blew away the field on Oahu with a 7-under 63 to win the Sony Open for the second straight year.

Walker set a tournament record with a 9-shot victory. He finished at 23-under 257. Scott Piercy closed with a 66 to finish alone in second.

Allenby's ordeal

Robert Allenby could barely open his left eye Sunday morning. He said it was bruised and swollen from a robbery and beating in Honolulu that he still can't explain.

Allenby said he watched surveillance video of him leaving a bar with four people Friday night after he missed the cut in the Sony Open. He has no recollection of what happened next until he was shoved out of the car into a gutter and was being kicked and prodded by homeless people.

The 43-year-old Australian golfer said he is still badly shaken.

"You think ... that happens in the movie, not real life," Allenby said. "I'm just happy to be alive."
