Thurs. S.J. football: Van Kline runs wild again

Van Kline scored on runs of 40, 75, 4, 30, 70, 60, and 57 yards to break the school's single-game rushing-touchdown record. The previous mark of six was set by Van Kline earlier this season.

Van Kline totaled 374 rushing yards on 20 carries. He finished the year with 2,305 rushing yards (a Burlington County record) and 36 rushing touchdowns (a school record).

He tallied 38 total touchdowns this year and scored in every game.

New Egypt leads the all-time series, 9-4.

In other nonleague games:

Gloucester 7, Gloucester Catholic 0 - Anthony Rodriguez returned the opening kickoff 85 yards for the only score as the Lions beat the host Rams.

Justin Cowgill forced and recovered a fumble in his own end zone with 1 minute, 40 seconds to play.

Gloucester's win tied the all-time series, 19-19-1.

Cherokee 35, Seneca 19 - RJ Wolf returned a blocked kick 75 yards to open the scoring for the Chiefs, who beat the Golden Eagles at home.

Jake Bodine was 4-for-5 passing for 59 yards and a touchdown, and Evan Powell completed all three of his passes for 27 yards and a score.

Cherokee improved to 8-2 in the all-time series.

Salem 22, Woodstown 21 - Shareef Jefferies hit Donovan Lewis in the fourth quarter for the game-winning touchdown pass as the host Rams edged the Wolverines.

Salem scored 16 points in the final period to complete the comeback.

Salem leads the series, 58-35-10.

Lindenwold 26, Overbrook 8 - Malik Muldrow threw three touchdown passes to lead the visiting Lions. Zaire Giles hauled in two touchdown passes.

The all-time series is tied, 3-3.

Pennsauken 26, Bishop Eustace 14 - Aaron Swan collected 231 yards and two touchdowns on 41 carries as the Indians won at home.

Marquan Jones scored on a 5-yard run and a 40-yard interception return.

Haddonfield 45, Haddon Heights 6 - Jake Klaus rushed for two touchdowns for the host Bulldogs.

Mark Walker scored on a 36-yard run and a 45-yard interception return.

Haddonfield improved its record to 57-42-6 in the all-time series.

Oakcrest 32, Absegami 7 - Terrence Smith ran for three touchdowns as the Falcons took down the visiting Braves.

Absegami leads the all-time series, 20-18.

West Jersey Liberty

Nick Thevanayagam rushed for two touchdowns and passed for another as Cinnaminson shut out Delran at home, 35-0.

The Pirates defense totaled nine sacks, forced three turnovers, and held Delran to 77 yards of total offense.

Aaron Elly rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries.

Thevanayagam finished his career with 4,207 yards of total offense, 40 touchdowns, and a 23-8 record.

Cinnaminson won nine games in a season for the second time in school history and the first since 1991.

Cinnaminson also took the lead in the all-time series, with a 4-3 record.

West Jersey American

Joe Early rushed for the game's final three touchdowns as Williamstown rallied to defeat Washington Township, 25-21, on the road.

Isiah Perkins scored on a 76-yard run in the second quarter after the Minutemen had opened a 21-point lead.

Williamstown remained perfect in the all-time series with Washington Township, winning all four matchups.

West Jersey Classic

Juwan Carr carried the ball 13 times for 133 yards and two scores in Clayton's 49-18 success at Pitman.

Carr also had a 40-yard touchdown pass to Elijah Rehm. Tyreek Jackson had two touchdown runs.

Pitman leads the all-time series, 59-25-4.

West Jersey National

William King caught a 19-yard pass from Anthony Dilks for a touchdown in the third quarter in Kingsway's 7-0 shutout at Clearview.

The Dragons improved to 18-9 in the all-time series.

Colonial Patriot

Troy Shorts rushed for two touchdowns in Woodbury's 30-14 home win over Gateway. Woodbury leads the all-time series, 26-10.
