Pa. Girls: Thurs. Pa. girls: Downingtown West advances

West's Shae Yanez (8 saves) and Unionville's Adriana Weber (6 saves) had dueling shutouts after two overtimes.

Plymouth Whitemarsh 2, Wissahickon 1 - Nicole Abbott and Maddie Berman scored first-half goals as the No. 12 Colonials took down the 24th-seeded Trojans to earn the first playoff win in program history.

Strath Haven 3, West Chester Henderson 2 - Maddy Tannert-Schmidt scored with five minutes left, a minute after Madeline Pritchard tied it for No. 24 Henderson, to clinch the victory for the ninth-seeded hosts.

Phoenixville 5, Upper Dublin 2 - Lauren Benner scored a career-high four goals to lead the No. 7 Phantoms past the visiting No. 26 Cardinals.

Dist. 1 Class AA Soccer

Bridgette Alexander provided all the goals for host No. 2 Lower Moreland in its 3-1 quarterfinal win over No. 7 Upper Perkiomen.

Catholic League Soccer

Kaitlin McFadden scored three minutes into the second overtime to send No. 1 seed Archbishop Ryan to a 2-1 semifinal win over No. 4 Little Flower.

Visiting Little Flower's Cailey Plaph scored in the first half. It was the first league goal allowed by goalie Jazmin Gonzalez all year.

The Ragdolls will host No. 2 Archbishop Wood, which beat Lansdale Catholic, 1-0, at 1 p.m. Sunday.

District 12 Tennis

Julianne Herman of Archbishop Ryan won the District 12 Class AAA singles title for the fourth year in a row, 6-0, 6-0, over Central's Tiffany Atmadja at Legacy Tennis Center in East Falls.

Masterman's Emma Lipschutz won the AA title.

Dist. 12 Cross-Country

Six Cardinal O'Hara runners crossed within 25 seconds of each other on the 3.1-mile course at Belmont Plateau to lead the Lions to the Class AAA title. Olivia Arizin won in 19 minutes, 30 seconds.

Lansdale Catholic's Kayla Connelly won the AA race in 19:56; Archbishop Wood took the team title.

Masterman won in Class A, led by Claudia Ashworth's first-place finish in 19:51.

Public League Field Hockey

Central was disqualified from the Public League tournament because it had a boy on its team.

Because of the new PIAA rule that restricts boys' ability to play field hockey, any team that uses a boys' player may not participate in the postseason.

Central athletic director Rich Drayton said his team was aware of the rule but didn't realize that it applied to the Public League playoffs.
