Luckily, Sophia Tornetta made the last one count.

Jax van der Veen passed to Tornetta, who lifted in a goal with 1 minute, 19 seconds remaining to secure a 1-0 Inter-Ac League victory over visiting Germantown Academy.

Ashley Piszek (17 saves) and the GA defense were outstanding in neutralizing Agnes Irwin's offense. The Owls did not score on any of their 22 penalty corners.

Irwin midfielder Ellie Kirkpatrick was key in setting up the Owls' numerous scoring chances.

"She's just a die-hard kid that doesn't quit," coach Ali Brant said.

Elsewhere in the Inter-Ac, Margaux Paolino paired two goals with one assist to lead Episcopal Academy to a 2-1 win at Notre Dame.

Central. Jessika Daniels assisted on Jessica Bradley's opening goal and then added three scores of her own as Garnet Valley cruised at Lower Merion, 4-0.

Ches-Mont American. Olivia Muscella broke a tie midway through the second half, and Great Valley won, 2-1, at Octorara.

Bicentennial Independence. Jill Bolton scored her second goal, off an assist from Jen Swartley in overtime, to lift Christopher Dock to a 3-2 victory at Lower Moreland.

Friends Schools. Sydney Leffler scored her second goal with 10 minutes remaining in the second half to send Friends Select to a 2-1 home win over Friends' Central.

Soccer

Tori Hill blasted a shot from 25 yards and it deflected off the crossbar, then bounced off the goalie's back and into the net in the 77th minute to give Council Rock North a 1-0 nonleague victory over Archbishop Wood.

Catholic Academies. Murphy Agnew scored on a one-on-one opportunity late in the first half to complete the scoring in Villa Joseph Marie's 2-1 victory at St. Basil. Brooke Shissler made 12 saves for St. Basil.

M.K. Maloney scored off an assist from Maddie Finnegan midway through the second half to give Mount St. Joseph the lead for good in a 4-2 win over visiting Nazareth Academy. Finnegan, a sophomore playing in her first game, scored to complete the scoring later in the half.

Inter-Ac. Tara Boyle and Jessica Shanahan split the scoring evenly for Episcopal Academy in a 4-2 victory at Notre Dame. Julia Dambly scored both goals for the Irish.

Central. Amelia Durfee scored off an assist from Olivia Butera midway through the second half, and it was all Haverford High needed for a 1-0 victory at Harriton.

Tennis

Visiting Conestoga defeated Upper Darby, 7-0, to clinch its sixth consecutive undefeated Central League season.

Lindsey Taaffe and Maddie Wood blanked Sarah Muche and Juliana Lucero, 6-0, 6-0, at first doubles.

Inter-Ac. Grace Leasure defeated Emma Sass, 6-3, 3-6, 10-3, at first singles to guide unbeaten Notre Dame to its first victory over Baldwin, 4-3, in Bryn Mawr.

Nonleague. Chelsea Stone and Autumn Walker rallied to edge Casey Robinson and Jenny Dooner in the deciding match at second doubles, 6-3, 4-6, 10-6, to clinch a 3-2 victory for Central at Merion Mercy.

Volleyball

Carly Pruitt (eight kills, 14 digs), Grace Polisano (11 kills, 15 digs), and Cat Polisano (25 assists, two aces) helped Germantown Academy to a 25-16, 25-13, 25-17, victory at Agnes Irwin in the Inter-Ac.
