Archbishop Wood star lineman tabbed for Under Armour All-America game
Senior captain Ryan Bates, a Penn State commit, will play in an all-star game in Florida on Jan. 2.
ARCHBISHOP WOOD senior offensive/defensive lineman Ryan Bates has been selected to the 2015 Under Armour All-America High School Football Game.
Bates, a 6-5, 285-pounder, is a Penn State commit and was the top-rated offensive lineman on the Daily News' All-City team as a junior.
One of four senior captains, Bates looks to help the Vikings defend their second Class AAA state title in three seasons.
Wood head coach Steve Devlin also has accepted an invitation to coach the game.
The eighth-annual Under Armour All-America Game is scheduled for Jan. 2 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla., and will air live on ESPN2.
Bates will be presented his official game jersey Sept. 24 during a special ceremony and news conference at Wood.
