Pa. Boys: Conestoga earns berth in AAAA baseball final

Jake Bufo did it all - with his arm and with his glove - on the mound Monday to get Conestoga a 3-2 win over Seneca Valley in the PIAA Class AAAA baseball semifinals at Greene Township Park in Scotland, Franklin County.

Bufo snagged a line drive with the bases loaded to end the third inning. In the fifth inning, an overthrow went past the catcher, and Bufo covered home and tagged the runner for an out.

Bufo allowed two runs on five hits over seven innings.

Andrew Born ripped a two-run single in the second for Conestoga.

Born's brother, Stephen, doubled and scored a run on Andrew Turner's base hit.

PIAA Class AAA Baseball Semifinals

Corey Neel struck out eight and did not issue a walk as he pitched Harriton to a 5-2 win over Cathedral Prep at Governor's Park in Bellefonte, Centre County.

Neel went all seven innings in the win.

Jimmy Bredt delivered a two-run single as part of Harriton's three-run second inning.

Football

West Chester East's Kevin Murphy, a senior defensive end, committed to play football at Connecticut.

The 6-foot-2, 270-pound Murphy, who doubles as an offensive tackle, will be a fourth-year starter next season for East. He notched 88 tackles, including seven sacks, last year.

The 17-year-old is projected to play nose guard or defensive tackle in college.
