Thurs. Pa. boys and girls: Central blanks GAMP

Danny Holdsman led the Lancers at the plate by going 2 for 3, including a double, and knocking in two runs.

Suburban One American. Kevin Graham hit a two-run homer in a 3-for-4 performance and scored three times in host Cheltenham's 11-1 romp over Springfield (Montco).

Catholic Red. Jim Herron knocked in four runs - three with a bases-loaded double to open the scoring in the third inning - and La Salle, The Inquirer's top-ranked team in Southeastern Pennsylvania, won at Cardinal O'Hara, 7-3. Brad Snyder's RBI single broke a 3-3 tie in the seventh inning.

Dan Hammer slugged a three-run homer, and Jim Huston added a two-run blast as Father Judge earned a 9-4 home win over St. Joseph's Prep.

Central. With Harriton trailing by two runs, Jesse Bregman rapped a three-run triple with two out in the fifth inning to push the host Rams to a 4-3 victory over Garnet Valley.

Sophomore Justin DiCarlo earned his first varsity win, and Sean Corelli had three hits and scored twice in host Radnor's 13-3 triumph over Upper Darby.

Nonleague. Dave Rodgers smacked a two-RBI double to highlight a four-run sixth inning that broke a tie and sent No. 7 Malvern Prep to a 5-1 home win over Neumann-Goretti. Chris Butera pitched a seven-hitter, striking out eight, for the Friars.

Softball

Cailey Plath clubbed a grand slam and drove in seven runs for Little Flower in a 20-0, three-inning win at West Catholic in a Catholic League matchup.

In another Catholic game, Grace Boston had two hits, including a game-winning triple in the bottom of the sixth inning, and knocked in three runs as Cardinal O'Hara topped St. Hubert, 6-5.

Central. Sammie Donato tripled and Kelsey Moran homered in a four-run first inning that propelled host Haverford High past Strath Haven, 11-1.

Giavanna Lorine and Callie Wang combined on a one-hit shutout, and Conestoga defeated visiting Lower Merion in five innings, 14-0.

Pioneer Athletic. Emily Harris had three hits, scored two runs, and drove in two during Methacton's 6-0 victory at Upper Perkiomen.

Catholic Academies. Taylor Lichtenhahn pitched a one-hitter and struck out eight, and host Nazareth Academy turned back Mount St. Joseph, 12-1, in six innings.

Girls' Golf

Corey Loftus and Maddie Keane each shot a 3-over-par 40 at Merion West, helping Notre Dame set a school record for best score in a 219-268 victory over Baldwin. The Irish's total surpassed the team mark of 221 set two years ago.

Girls' Lacrosse

Agnes Irwin created a tie atop the Inter-Ac League by defeating Episcopal Academy for the first time since 2006, 13-11. Hannah Keating scored four goals for the host Owls, and senior captain Bridget Chakey added three goals and two assists.

Also in the Inter-Ac:

Behind four-goal outings by Sinead Brierly and Mikaela Watson, Springside Chestnut Hill set down host Penn Charter, 16-6. Avery Shoemaker countered with four goals for the Quakers.

Host Germantown Academy received six goals and two assists from Cooper Hall and five goals and three assists from Hanna Bogorowski in a 20-11 success against Notre Dame.

Nonleague. In a game Villa Maria was guaranteed to win - Villa Maria of Malvern faced Villa Maria of Erie - the Hurricanes of Malvern raced to an 18-3 victory in Orlando. Lauren Dunn and Megan Parsons each scored four goals.

Boys' Lacrosse

Frank Doran recorded a hat trick, and Eric O'Brien deposited two goals as host Northeast dispatched Washington, 8-6, in a Public League matchup. Connor McMonagle paced the Eagles with three goals.

Bicentennial. Michael Major scored his 100th career goal, and Holy Ghost Prep rolled at New Hope-Solebury, 15-4.

Central. John Brody stopped seven shots, and Paddy Black, Daniel Buckman, Jack Shade, and Evan Wolf each scored twice for Lower Merion in a 9-3 home victory over district rival Harriton.

Sparked by Drew Ryan's four goals and hat tricks by Owen Scheuerle and Jack Wilson, host Radnor downed Strath Haven, 14-4.

Inter-Ac. Dean Roseman's four goals and Sean McKee's 15 saves led host Penn Charter to an 11-10 triumph over Springside Chestnut Hill.

Malvern Prep defeated visiting Germantown Academy, 10-6, behind Adam Goldner's four goals and two assists. Kyle Anderson added a goal and two assists for the host Friars. Jimmy McAfee topped the Patriots with three goals.
