However, Thorndike was just getting started.

Thorndike went 3 for 4 with a homer, drove in three runs, and scored twice to power the Bulldogs to a 10-0 victory over tournament host Pitman in the final.

Earlier, Thorndike went 2 for 4 with a double as Haddonfield defeated Kingsway in the semifinals, 7-5. He finished the day with five hits and five RBIs and was named tournament MVP.

In the consolation game, Kingsway's Josh Bird scattered four hits and struck out two in shutting out Gateway, 8-0. Anthony Esposito had two doubles and five RBIs. Matt Lesyk was 3 for 4 with two doubles and an RBI.

Billy Cavender went seven scoreless innings and struck out 11 for Pitman, which blanked Gateway, 3-0, in the other semifinal.

Grand Slam Classic. Matt Ardente allowed two runs on five hits and struck out seven for Absegami, which downed Cherokee, 6-2, at Washington Lake Park. Tyler Welch doubled and crossed the plate twice.

Ryan Hanratty struck out one and worked a scoreless seventh inning to get the save for Cinnaminson, which edged Vineland, 8-6. Cody MacNair was perfect at the plate with three hits and two runs. Nick Thevanayagam was 2 for 4 with three RBIs.

Nonleague. Leadoff batter Joshua Gilger went 4 for 4 with two runs and two RBIs to spark host Overbrook to a 9-2 win over Maple Shade.

Joel Minch added three hits - including two doubles - knocked in three runs, and scored once. Winning pitcher Shane Graham allowed one run and struck out 10.

Lacrosse

Kyle Borbi recorded a hat trick to lead the attack for visiting Shawnee, which topped St. Augustine, 7-4.

David Smith notched two goals. Mike Shinske and Jack Tyrrell added one each. Reece Tursi stopped 14 shots.
