Tommy Toal might be only a freshman. But he sure is catching on quickly to this whole business of game-winning hits.

Toal drove in the winning run for Haverford School on Thursday for the second time in as many games.

Toal's single in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the Fords a 4-3 victory over Springside Chestnut Hill in an Inter-Ac League baseball game. Wednesday, his hit in the eighth lifted Haverford School over Shipley.

Connor Burke earned the win.

Elsewhere in the Inter-Ac, Malvern Prep took advantage of consecutive errors to score seven runs in the sixth inning and rally for a 9-4 win at Episcopal Academy. Gardner Nutter tossed six innings, striking out six and allowing six hits.

Suburban One Continental. Hatboro-Horsham continued its stingy ways and extended its winning streak to four games with a 6-0 victory over visiting Quakertown.

Kyle Barron struck out seven in five innings. Over the last two weeks, the Hatters have allowed one earned run in 34 innings. They have a 1.64 ERA in league play.

Suburban One National. Matt Hand went six innings, and Council Rock North beat Truman, 5-2. Hand struck out five.

Pioneer Athletic. Tyler Bauman fired a no-hitter in Boyertown's 5-0 blanking of host Pottsgrove. The senior lefthander struck out eight and walked one.

Central. Ciaran Calahane's five-inning one-hitter led Marple Newtown to a 10-0 win at Springfield (Delco). He struck out seven and walked three.

Mid-Atlantic Prep. Jack Hogan led the way at the plate and on the mound in Hill School's 8-7 defeat of visiting Peddie School. Hogan struck out five in five innings to get the win and was 2 for 4 with two RBIs.

Public League C. Pedro Reyes recorded his second straight game with 10 strikeouts, and Southern beat visiting Dobbins, 11-1. Alberto Fernandez went 3 for 3 and had five RBIs.

Nonleague. Anthony Cacchione allowed one earned run as St. Joseph's Prep won at Central Bucks South, 5-2.

Anthony Vlahovic went 3 for 3 with a double as New Hope-Solebury topped Cross Lanes (W. Va.), 12-2, in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Larson Lanlotz went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs scored as Academy of the New Church downed visiting Solebury School, 13-1.

Lacrosse

Curt Zappala scored four goals and assisted on three others to move Episcopal Academy past visiting Lawrenceville, 13-8, in a nonleague game. Dutch Buckley had three goals and an assist, and Eric Haab and Tyler Haab had two apiece. Matt Ernst won 18 of 21 face-offs. Colin Reder made 11 saves.

Greg Price stopped 18 shots, and host Holy Ghost Prep beat Downingtown East, 10-7. Michael Major, Sean McDonald, Alex Yake, and Bennett Zaba each had two goals.

Dox Aitken, Brendan Jacob, and Forry Smith scored two goals apiece as Haverford School held off visiting Avon Grove, 10-6. Grant Ament had four assists.
