Spotlight on: Highland senior Jamil Jackson

Jamil Jackson still is new to wide receiver.

But he's a fast learner.

In just three games, the Highland senior has made an impact at his new position. He is among South Jersey's leaders in receiving yards with 307 on just 13 catches and also has four touchdowns.

"It's been good," Jackson said. "I'll do whatever to help the team. It's different for me. I like it."

The 6-foot, 150-pound Jackson has been a standout defensive back for Highland and also saw a lot of action at running back. But when the Tartans switched to more of a spread passing attack four games into the season, Jackson became a wide receiver.

"Since he's been there, he's made a lot of plays," Highland coach Craig Stinson said.

Highland (3-4) remains alive in the race for a berth in the South Jersey Group 3 tournament. The Tartans would get a big boost by defeating 5-2 Delsea on Friday night.

"It's an extremely big game," Jackson said. "Since I've been here, we're never beaten Delsea. This is our chance."
