Father Judge wrestlers take down Monsignor Bonner

Consecutive pins by Vickson Krah, Idris White, and Tim Maguire helped Father Judge clinch a berth in the Catholic League wrestling team championship match.

The Crusaders (17-2) rolled to a 54-27 semifinal win over visiting Monsignor Bonner on Monday and will face top-seeded La Salle for the title on Wednesday.

Helped by four forfeit wins in the first seven weight classes, Judge built a 36-3 lead. Krah scored a third-period fall at 160 pounds, and White (170) and Maguire (182) followed with first-period pins to build a 54-9 cushion.

La Salle, the three-time defending champion, advanced with a 65-3 win over visiting Bishop McDevitt.

Seniors Casey Kent (152) and Matt Cimato (145) each collected his 157th career win. Kent won a 57-second pin and Cimato had a second-period fall.

In the closest matchup, Sal Anderson edged McDevitt's Tyler Medina, 6-5, at 113 pounds.

St. Joseph's Prep coach Speedy Morris moved within one win of his 900th as a basketball coach as the Hawks dumped visiting West Catholic, 61-46, in Catholic League action. Stephen Vasturia posted 22 points and 13 rebounds, and Miles Overton had 16 points and 5 assists.

Inspired by a 27-10 first quarter in which Britton Lee hit a pair of three-pointers, Roman Catholic defeated visiting Lansdale Catholic, 76-60. Shep Garner and Rashann London combined for 11 assists.

Neumann-Goretti got nine points in the second and fourth quarters from Ja'Quan Newton (21) during a 65-46 win at Cardinal O'Hara.

Archbishop Ryan got 8 rebounds and 12 points from Derrick Jones, and held host Archbishop Carroll without a third-quarter field goal for a 53-42 win.

Public. Luis Cirilo scored 9 points in two overtime periods and finished with 29 points and 9 rebounds as Mariana Bracetti edged visiting Science Leadership, 53-49.

Jaleel Parlin was 4 for 4 at the foul line in overtime and Lamar Strand hit two foul shots with 2 seconds left in the second extra period to clinch West Philadelphia's 55-51 thriller at Olney.

Nonleague. Souderton saw a 7-point halftime lead disappear, but rallied for an 18-5 fourth quarter and toppled host Perkiomen Valley, 44-33. Luke Moyer scored 8 of his 12 points and the Indians shot 9 of 11 at the line in the last period.

Mercy Vocational used a pressing defense to turn a two-point halftime deficit into a 33-27 win over visiting Barrack Hebrew in a Tri-County League matchup.

Teharah Worrell scored half of her 14 points in a key 16-8 third-quarter run, giving Mercy an 18-4 record with one regular-season game left.

Catholic Academies. Down by 21-16 at halftime, Villa Maria rallied to beat host Nazareth Academy, 49-39, as Lisa Mirarchi (20) scored 14 second-half points and was 8 for 8 at the foul line.

Bicentennial. Christopher Dock moved closer to the Independence Division title with a 48-20 win over visiting Springfield (Montco) in which Laura Swintoski, a 6-foot-1 senior, piled up 16 points and 21 rebounds.

Four foul shots by Allie Morganstein (26) in the final 2 minutes sent Lower Moreland past host New Hope-Solebury, 41-39.

Emma Dorshimer (16) and Ruby Westkaemper (12) combined to outscore visiting Phil-Mont Christian as Jenkintown claimed a 45-22 victory.

Nonleague. Asia Baker scored all of her 12 points in a 37-19 first half and finished with 7 rebounds and 5 steals as Shipley knocked off host Radnor, 65-39. Sox Alexander registered a season-high 12 steals, and Jordyn Turner had 14 points, 9 rebounds and 9 steals.

Friends Select defeated visiting Barrack Hebrew, 86-77, in a nonleague meet that featured two individual wins each by the Falcons' Shayna Kleinman-Phillips (200- and 500-yard freestyles), Allie Quirk (50 freestyle, 100 backstroke), and Kayla Kahan (100 butterfly, 100 breaststroke).
