Fitzpatrick sparks Wood over Bonner, 61-45

Archbishop Wood freshman Cody Fitzpatrick hit six three-pointers and scored a season-best 20 points while directing the Vikings to a 61-45 win over visiting Monsignor Bonner in Catholic League boys' basketball on Sunday.

Fitzpatrick scored 15 of Wood's 17 second-quarter points, and Wood also benefited from Joe LoStracco's 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Shane Neher's 10 points, five rebounds and five assists.

Also in the Catholic League, La Salle, fueled by Amar Stukes' 17 points and Matt Rodden's 16, held off Bishop McDevitt late and beat the visiting Lancers, 71-58.

Hoop Group Showcase. Aaron Morgan was named Council Rock North's team MVP after scoring 19 points and dealing 10 assists in a 75-49 win over Allentown Central Catholic at Parkland.

Arron Goodman had 18 points and 14 rebounds.

Neumann-Goretti's La'Quan Coaxum had 14 points and 18 rebounds but the Saints dropped a 58-54 verdict to South Shore (N.Y.).

Girls' Basketball

Amanda Weindorfer's steal with five seconds left led to Kelsey Dale's clinching foul shot as Archbishop Ryan edged Episcopal Academy, 48-45, in the Blue Chip Showcase at Archbishop Carroll.

Megan Quinn, a 6-foot-2 junior, became the third Episcopal girl to reach 1,000 career points, scoring 22 and pushing her total to 1,019.

Archbishop Wood followed team MVP Lauren Nealon's 24 points to a 46-34 triumph over Christ the King (N.Y.).

Kristie Costantino (18) and Sarah Curran (20) combined for 28 points in a 47-19 first half that sent Archbishop Carroll past St. John Vianney (N.J.), 64-47.

Swimming

Malvern Prep's M. P. Salinas won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:45.36 at the National Catholic Swimming Championships at La Salle University.
