Tues. Pa. boys’ roundup: Holy Ghost takes title

Goals by Matt Dott, Colin O'Neill, and Diyeso gave the Firebirds (12-1) a 3-1 lead with 23 minutes remaining in the game. Jim Gavaghan made five saves for Holy Ghost.

Golf

Council Rock North's Zach Herr carded a 3-under-par 33 on the front nine on his way to a 3-under 69 at Turtle Creek Golf Club and will take the lead into Wednesday's second day of the PIAA District 1 championships.

Herr, a junior, leads Holy Ghost Prep's Chris Crawford by 2 strokes. The top 40 finishers shot 78 or better and made the cut for Wednesday.

District 12. St. Joseph's Prep, led by PIAA Regional qualifiers Vince Sirianni (76) and Mac Ryan (76), beat Roman Catholic in a sudden-death playoff for the team title at Penn Oaks Country Club. Father Judge's Gordon Dunlop took individual honors with a 75.
