Tues. S.J. girls’ roundup: Penns Grove stuns Kingsway

The visiting Red Devils evened their record at 4-4 on Tuesday with a statement win - handing top-ranked Kingsway its first loss of the season, 4-1, in a Tri-County Conference inter-division game.

Sophomore righthander Jordan LaRosa wriggled out of a bases-loaded jam in the seventh and was backed by a solid defense that included seven putouts by centerfielder Jordan Baker.

LaRosa also delivered the key hit of the game, stroking a bases-loaded double that chased home three in Penns Grove's four-run fourth.

Kingsway (10-1) came in averaging 9.1 runs per game.

Becky Guinto's home run tied it and Alexis Mazzeo's two-run blast put Glassboro ahead, as the Bulldogs rallied for four runs in the seventh to upend host Clearview, 7-4.

Anna Robinson and Brianna Rodriguez combined for six hits, five runs and three RBIs in powering Gloucester Catholic to an 8-2 win at Delsea.

Giselle Ramos belted a walk-off grand slam in the fifth inning, ending Schalick's 12-2 rout of visiting Wildwood.

Olympic. Laura Messina's second double of the day gave the four-year starter 100 hits in her career, highlighting Camden Catholic's 9-0 romp at Seneca.

Lisa Kosteleski's fourth home run of the season was also the first walk-off shot of her career - a solo blast over the left-field fence in the bottom of the eighth - giving Cherry Hill West a 3-2 home win over Shawnee. Kosteleski also doubled and finished with two RBIs.

Winning pitcher Steph Vuona raced home on Megan Parker's single in the bottom of the seventh, capping Eastern's 4-3, come-from-behind victory over visiting Washington Township.

Stephanie Heresniak ripped a two-run double and Dylan Jarvis doubled in a run as Paul VI pounded out 13 hits in a 6-0 win over visiting Lenape.

Gina McCool batted 3 for 3, walked twice and scored three times to key Cherokee's 8-2 triumph at Cherry Hill East.

Colonial. Nicole Snyder had three hits, three runs and three RBIs to back two-hit, shutout pitching by Jenna Hohenberger, and host Overbrook jumped on top early in cruising past Paulsboro, 11-0.

Burlington County. Melissa Callahan tied the game with a single and scored the go-ahead run on Katelyn George's base hit, capping a four-run seventh that lifted Riverside over host Burlington City, 4-3.

Florence's eight-run sixth-inning outburst allowed the visiting Flashes to double up Holy Cross, 8-4.

Cape-Atlantic. Lindsay Day's single to right field brought home Amanda Liepe in the bottom of the seventh, making host Oakcrest a 4-3 winner over Hammonton.

Brittany Scott struck out 11, scattered four hits and two walks and contributed a single and a triple on offense to spark Buena's 7-0 victory at Holy Spirit. The Chiefs' Maria Santiago went 4 for 4 at the plate and scored twice.

Lacrosse

Alex Burris led the way with four goals and Laura Bader dealt three assists as Moorestown Friends found the net nine times in the second half to pull away to a 14-7 victory at Academy of the New Church in a Friends Schools League match.

The Foxes' balanced attack also featured Chandler Hart-McGonigle and Noelle Smith each with three goals and an assist.
