Tues. S.J. girls’ roundup: Wilson, Seneca, Cherokee victorious

Paul VI led Woodrow Wilson by four points when Maynard drained a three-point basket with 5.9 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, cutting the host Tigers' deficit to one.

Following a timeout, Maynard came up with her sixth steal of the day - and put in a layup with .8 seconds left that made Wilson a 48-47 winner.

Chanelle Perry picked up 11 of her 18 points in the third quarter to kick-start the Tigers' comeback. Maynard added 14 points while Kamari Talley scored 10. Paul VI carried a 25-16 lead into the second half, thanks largely to the scoring of Carla Chmielewski (16 points), Adrienne Small (13) and Stephanie McDonnell (10).

At Camden Catholic, the game was tied when Giunta hit a runner in the lane with 2.4 seconds to go to give Seneca a 44-42 victory - and a one-game lead over the Irish in the National Division.

Brittany Snow (16 points), Johanna Metzger (14 points, 5 rebounds) and Giunta (10 points) led Seneca, while the Irish received 14 points from Addy Crenny and 12 points from Nicole Angelo.

At Eastern, Cherokee trailed by a point with 2 minutes to go, but that's when McDonald entered the game and buried a pair of three-pointers that sent the Chiefs on to a 37-32 win.

Krystine Rice had nine points and McDonald finished with eight to paced Cherokee's balanced attack. Eastern's Andrea Okoro led all scorers with 16 points.

Elsewhere in the Olympic:

Jasmine Martin poured in 31 points, including a dozen in the first quarter to start Timber Creek on its way to a 60-47 triumph at Shawnee. Courtney Reese (14 points) and Deanna Miller (11) also aided the Chargers, who took over sole possession of first place in the Patriot Division. Erin Molina scored 16 for the second-place Renegades.

Winslow Township rode 29 points by Jada Matthews to a 58-48 victory at Cherry Hill West. Taylor Klevenz knocked down three treys in scoring 14 for the Lions.

Lati Stafford totaled 15 points and eight rebounds and Vanessa Neal contributed 13 points and three steals for Pennsauken, which escaped the Patriot Division cellar with a 48-36 win over visiting Triton. Deja Bullock (16 points) and Samantha Funk (14) led the Mustangs, who squandered an early eight-point lead.

Junior guard Alyssa Cirucci set a career high with 22 points, including four three-point baskets, and Jackie Browne also made four treys in putting in 20 points, as host Bishop Eustace cruised past Camden, 75-30.

Colonial. Tyler Frankowski had just three points, but her basket with :03 left in overtime made Audubon a 39-38 winner at Gateway. The Gators fell despite 22 points by Meghan Nowak.

Anyssa Sanchez scored 10 of her 17 points over the final two quarters, as Sterling awoke to break an 18-18 halftime tie and go on to rout host Collingswood, 50-24.

Host Haddon Township used a 17-4 run to erase a three-point second-quarter deficit, sending the Hawks to a 56-41 victory over Woodbury. Sara DeCinque (17 points) and Jess Brown (15) keyed Township's surge, while Dominique Sellers (17) and Megan Fox (16) supplied the bulk of Woodbury's offense.

Kelly Brewster, with 13 points, topped nine West Deptford players in the scoring column as the host Eagles soared over Haddon Heights, 52-28.

Lavon Childress (18 points) netted 10 in a game-opening 20-2 spree that put Paulsboro on track for a 64-21 win at Lindenwold.

Haddonfield's 67-18 romp past visiting Overbrook featured 14 points by Erin Brogan and Alex Marshall's 11-point, eight-rebound, eight-assist performance.

Tri-County. Sara Kramer (18 points) provided clutch baskets down the stretch in regulation, and Chantelle Clark scored 6 of her 8 points in overtime as Clearview finished strong to overtake Cumberland, 35-26. Lauren Whelan scored 14 for the Colts.

With Williamstown clinging to a two-point lead early in the fourth quarter, Courtney Caulfield (11 points) arced in a pair of three-pointers to enable the Braves to put away host Highland, 49-40.

Christie Orgero and Kristina Reiter had 12 points apiece and Rachael Barlage scored 11 to power host Gloucester Catholic past Penns Grove, 62-18.

Kenya Woods scored 8 of her 15 points in the fourth quarter, allowing Salem to hold off host Schalick, 43-39. The Cougars made a game of it with a second-half rally fueled by 13 points apiece from Victoria Wright and Giselle Ramos.

Host Clayton dropped a 33-24 decision to Gloucester, despite 14 rebounds and two blocks by the Clippers' Jewel Brown.

Burlington County. Aliyah Murray filled up the stat sheet with 16 points, 10 steals and three assists as host Delran doubled up Northern Burlington, 44-22.

Natalya Lee picked up 8 of her 15 points in a game-turning 18-9 third-quarter surge, allowing host Rancocas Valley to run past Bordentown, 49-36.

Cierra Ray had a game-high 17 points, Alicia Bradley contributed 14 points, eight rebounds and six steals, and Simi Adewumi cleared a dozen boards to go with her 10 points, as host Burlington Township buried Westampton Tech, 58-32.

Sarah Muchowski's 22-point effort was not enough to keep host Florence from falling, 47-36, to Riverside. The Rams' attack was sparked by Shannon Rossi (16 points), Christine Caruso (14) and Kim Snow (10).

Nonleague. Brianna Wylie tossed in 21 points while Advia Campbell worked the paint for 11 points, eight rebounds and three blocks in Lenape's 45-36 home win over Pemberton.
