Wed. S.J. wrestling roundup: Delran narrowly defeats Haddon Twp.

Travis McDowell's 27-second pin at 140 pounds capped four consecutive wins by Delran that allowed the Bears to edge out Haddon Township, 36-35, on Wednesday in nonleague wrestling.

Doug Denny started the late run with a fall in :30 at 125 pounds, followed by Matt Rossner's pin at 130 and a 1-0 decision by Dan Pak at 135.

The rally was especially clutch, because Delran was shorthanded and had to forfeit one of the final two weights. After McDowell's pin, the Bears vacated at 145.

Haddon Township appeared to be in control early, opening with a decision by Mike McCutcheon (152) followed by pins from Damien Rodig (189), Dustin Smith (285), and Renato Paoli (103).

Burlington County. Khalid Shakir's 10-1 major decision at 160, Grant Corretjer's 6-1 win at 189, and Matt Bauer's 14-second fall at 215 enabled host Bordentown to finish off Cinnaminson, 38-21.

Zach Verity (103) and Harley Palyok (152) sandwiched first-period pins around six forfeit victories for host Northern Burlington, which won four of the seven contested bouts in dispatching Pemberton, 64-15.

Eric Lofton's 26-second pin at heavyweight typified Rancocas Valley's performance in a 50-22 romp at Willingboro. The Red Devils had four falls in all, including Ian Clang's 44-second takedown at 171, while the Chimeras were hurt by three forfeits.

Host Maple Shade made quick work of Riverside, prevailing in four of the six weights that were contested to take a 36-12 victory. Joe Ansbro (112), Justin Jericho (119), Doug Miller (130), and Alex Conover (285) had first-period falls for the Wildcats.

Davonte Jones had a pin in :14 at heavyweight and John Bockius (125) won by fall in :38, as host Burlington City bounced Westampton Tech, 54-22.

Sean McGreevy (160), Thomas Forline (189), and Ernesto Padilla (215) came through with pins to make Moorestown a 45-29 winner at Burlington Township.

Colonial. Host Paulsboro collected four of its seven pins in :38 or less in pounding Gateway, 68-4. Anthony Dawson had the Red Raiders' quickest fall, needing just :29 to win at 160, while Michael Zold (112), Matthew Cosgrove (171), and Eric McMullen (215) also made quick work of their opponents. Nikki Tzitzifas had the lone win for Gateway, a major decision at 140.

Cape-Atlantic. Rico Rivera's 10-9 overtime win at 145 followed back-to-back major decisions by Brandon Matlock (135) and Lawson Worthy (140), putting host Millville in control early and the Thunderbolts went on to strafe Atlantic City, 53-16.

Matthew Dellinger's :25 pin at 103 led the way for St. Augustine, which ruled the lighter weights in dismantling visiting Mainland, 57-21. The Hermits had a string of five consecutive wins until the Mustangs' Eric Lands came through with a 7-0 decision at 135.

Middle Township won 11 bouts - 10 by fall and a major decision by Dylan Young (215) - to crush host Cedar Creek, 64-15. The Panthers' Ronray Harris (112), Brandan Tighe (125), James Loftus (130), Andrew Symuleski (140), Nate Enders (145), and Jacob Caprioni (285) each needed less than two minutes to flatten their opponents.

Tri-County. Clearview hammered visiting Highland, 52-14, behind pins by Alex Moncher (112), John Vanbrill (119), Robby Wittman (125), Andrew Hughes (171), Hunter Joseph (189), and Mike Emma (215). The Tartans' Jake Siegfried won by technical fall, 25-10, at 152.

Kingsway captured the final six weights, including consecutive pins by Nick Scuderi (215) and Kyle Lloyd (285), to pull out a 37-30 victory over visiting Deptford. Billy Leone began the Dragons' late assault with a pin at 152. The Spartans stood tall early, thanks to falls by Storm Perez (103), Kyle Dunne (112), and Ray Feigenbutz (119).

Will Cioffi opened the match with a pin in 1:23 at 189 pounds and heavyweight Curtis Neeler recorded a fall in 2:30, starting Pitman on its way to a 51-19 triumph at Gloucester.

Delsea swept seven consecutive bouts, starting with John Pierson's pin at 119, en route to a 62-12 rout of visiting Williamstown.

Anthoni Santiago (189) of Woodstown and Schalick's Nick Pustizzi (215) traded major decisions, but it was Santiago and the host Wolverines who came out on top, 49-21.

Pennsville picked up nine pins in pummeling host Gloucester Catholic, 68-9.Olympic. Timber Creek dropped the first two weights and then went on a roll, cruising to a 58-6 victory at Shawnee. The Chargers owned the upper weights, with Caleb Shockley (171), Bryheim Muse (189), A.J. Lear (215), and Salvatore DeSilvio (285) each winning by fall.

Tyler Andersen's :20 pin at 171 helped Winslow Township withstand a late run by host Triton, as the Eagles held on for a 36-33 victory.
