Wed. S.J. boys’ and girls’ roundup: Villagers victorious

Karli Ernst, Lauren Hartman and Ann Brewer scored six points apiece in a 21-11 fourth-quarter rally, carrying Our Lady of Mercy to a 54-47 victory at Cedar Creek on Wednesday in Cape-Atlantic League girls' basketball.

Brewer's 14 points led the Villagers, while Ernst chipped in 11 points and Hartman and Bridget Dandrea added 10 apiece. Kristine Miller posted 19 points and 13 rebounds and Mikila Stefanski scored 16 for Cedar Creek.

In other Cape-Atlantic League action:

Carlie Senatore got Wildwood Catholic off to a strong start and provided a steady hand down the stretch, finishing with 15 points, in a 53-42 triumph at Pleasantville. Brianna Holloway had a game-high 21 points for the Greyhounds.

St. Joseph, behind 16 points by Jade Howard, withstood a late surge to edge host Cape May Tech, 42-37. The Hawks made a game of it with a 14-4 fourth-quarter run, thanks largely to Kerry Player (13 points, 8 rebounds) and Lauryn Fields (11 points).

Gina DiDomenico had a strong all-around floor game, producing 15 points, four assists and three steals, and Taylor Reed battled inside for 11 points and eight rebounds to highlight Egg Harbor Township's 45-29 win over visiting Millville. Courtney Nock scored 14 for the Thunderbolts.

Holy Spirit had 17 players score at least two points, led by Gina Lewis' 12, in a 69-16 rout of visiting Bridgeton. Kennedy Johnson, a 6-foot, 1-inch freshman, collected eight points and 11 rebounds in controlling the paint for the Spartans.

Nonleague. Double-figure scoring by sophomores Marissa Rivera (18 points) and Shelby Dolan (13), and a double-double from Drina Thorton (11 points, 10 rebounds) keyed host Northern Burlington's 51-45 come-from-behind victory over Stuart Country Day.

Kimberlyn Roy picked up 19 of her 21 points in the first half and went on to add eight rebounds and five assists, powering host Camden Academy Charter past Pennsauken Tech, 49-27.

Elana Zangerle knocked down a pair of three-point shots in scoring 15, and Kelsey Markowitz added 11 points for Doane Academy, which turned up the defensive pressure in the second half to cement a 35-22 home win over Kohelet Yeshiva (Pa.).

T-John Casiello converted 16 of 19 free throws and nailed a pair of treys in scoring 24 points, as host Wildwood Catholic pounded Pleasantville, 70-51, in a Cape-Atlantic League game.

DaQuill Gibbs added 17 points and Eddie McWade netted 13 to offset the 23-point effort by the Greyhounds' Armin Cain.

In another Cape-Atlantic clash, Jeff Ronchetti found his range in the third quarter, scoring eight of his 14 points in a 28-11 surge that propelled Sacred Heart to a 66-48 win at Buena.

Mike DePalma added a dozen points for the Lions, while Rashan Austin's 14 points paced Buena.

Nonleague. Pedro Jiminez laid in the go-ahead basket with 24 seconds left in overtime, and host Pennsauken Tech held on to nip Camden Academy Charter, 53-49.

The Tornados were led by Brandon Rembert, who totaled 15 points and six assists, Jiminez (13 points) and John Tatum (12 rebounds). The visitors rallied behind 16 points from Peter Stocker.

Chris Scott had just two points, but they came on a layup with 2 seconds remaining in regulation and made host Doane Academy a 42-40 winner over Koheley Yeshiva (Pa.).
