Tues. S.J. boys’ and girls’ roundup: Haddon Twp. wins division

The Haddon Township girls' soccer program clinched its second consecutive Colonial Conference Patriot Division title on Tuesday, when the Hawks soared to a 4-1 win at Woodbury.

Jessie Blythe led a balanced attack with a goal and an assist, with Tori McErlean, Haley Philpott and Kaitlyn Stoltz rounding out the scoring.

Katie Getzinger stopped nine shots for Haddon Township, which improved to 14-3-1 overall and 11-3-1 in conference play.

Burlington County. Ally Stathius knocked in a pass from Allie McLaughlin three minutes into the second half, and Katie Larson made seven saves in posting Delran's 10th shutout of the season, as the host Bears edged Moorestown, 1-0.

Tri-County. Korrie Harkins had a hand in all of Gloucester Catholic's scoring, contributing a hat trick and an assist in a 4-1 victory over visiting Cumberland.

Devon Dougherty chipped in a goal and an assist for the Diamond Division champions.

Boys' Soccer

George Gans raised his season goal total to 22 with a hat trick, and John Weaver was perfect in the nets in recording Haddon Heights' ninth shutout, as the host Garnets stymied Sterling, 5-0, in a Colonial Conference match.

Gans, a senior forward, is within four goals of the school single-season record of 26 set by Tim Garvin in 2001.

Burlington County. Emmanuel Gbengon picked up a loose ball near the top of the box and ripped home a shot less than nine minutes into the second half, sending host Burlington Township past Cinnaminson, 1-0.

Ryan Liberty kept the Pirates off the scoreboard with his fifth shutout.

Tri-County. Rich McAdams and Steve Butenewicz had two goals apiece, and goalie Nick McBride slammed the door on GCIT to key Delsea's 6-0 home win.

Nonleague. Jake Williams set up Kevin Calloway's goal midway through the first half, and Clearview keeper Gianluca Bastia (six saves) made the lead stand up in a 1-0 victory over visiting Ocean City.

Field Hockey

Moorestown Friends secured the second seed for the upcoming Friends Schools League playoffs by pulling out a 5-4 overtime victory at Westtown.

Lara Savon's third goal of the day, on a breakaway three minutes into the extra session, was the difference for the Foxes.

Olympic. Washington Township used second-half goals by Jill Wanielista, Alyssa Kelly and Lindsey Hatch to pull out a 3-1 win at Lenape. Melissa Palmarini made 14 saves to keep the Indians close.

Tri-County. Jordan Kugler tapped in a feed from Karlee Henderson with 20 minutes left in regulation, putting host Woodstown ahead to stay in a 1-0 win over Delsea.

Michelle Stafford assisted on a pair of first-half goals, putting Pitman on track for a 3-0 victory over visiting Pennsville.

Nonleague. Eastern added another pelt to its belt, registering its seventh 10-0 triumph of the season in a rout of visiting Cinnaminson.

Cori Allen (three goals) and Brittany Evangelisti (two goals) powered the offense, while Vikings goalie Alana Barry did not face a shot on goal.

Danielle Lawrence, who tied it with 12 minutes to play in the second half, assisted on Jamie Wilson's game-winner less than a minute later as Highland rallied to defeat host Timber Creek, 2-1.

Moira Penza picked up two goals and an assist while Mary O'Connell contributed a pair of helpers for host Bishop Eustace, which improved to 15-3 by blanking Rancocas Valley, 4-0.
