Tues. Pa. boys’ roundup: La Salle golfers take district title

Apparently the La Salle golf team likes the Island Green golf course better than Ravens Claw.

The Explorers fired a 303 and won the District 12 title Tuesday at Island Green. They lost the Catholic League title last week to St. Joseph's Prep by 8 strokes at Ravens Claw, but beat the Hawks by 6 strokes for the district crown.

La Salle qualified its team for the PIAA East Regional tournament at Golden Oaks (Reading) next Tuesday.

Paul Carbone of Archbishop Wood won the individual title with an even-par 72 and P.J. Acierno of La Salle was second with a 73 and was followed by teammate Jack Gregor who shot a 75. Anthony Hoffman of Roman Catholic tied for third at 75.

District 1. Dan Long of Coatesville shot a 69 to take the lead after the first round of the district tournament at Turtle Creek.

T.J. Summers of Central Bucks West is second with a 70 while Brandon Dalinka of Council Rock North and Rich Thorpe of Abington are tied for third at 71.

 

Boys' Soccer

Yazan Muasher scored the tying and winning goals to give Del-Val Friends the Tri-County League regular-season title with a 3-1 win over visiting Barrack Hebrew.

Muasher tied the game, 1-1, in the 36th minute and scored the go-ahead goal early in the second half. Brandon Dieck preserved the victory in goal with a 10-save effort.

Tae In Kim, Sam Levy and Charlie Xi scored goals to give Perkiomen School a 3-1 win over Kimberton Waldorf.

Francisco DeLeon and Bernardo Deschamps scored two goals each to lead Phelps past visiting Collegium, 5-1.

Matt Clugston and Bob Thompson each scored twice to lead Mercy Vocational to a 6-0 win over host Wyncote Academy.

Public. Prince Cooper scored the game-winning goal from 20 yards out and handed Frankford a 3-2 win over host Bodine.

Mustafa Al Ghazzwi added a pair of goals for the Pioneers.

Emmanuel Saia, Kirby Soussiont, and Trevaughn Webster accounted for goals as Engineering & Science got past visiting Boys' Latin, 3-2.

Matt O'Toole and James Seward scored goals to give Science Leadership a 2-0 win over host Carroll.

Koboi Yarkpawolo notched a hat trick and sparked Franklin Learning Center to an 8-5 win over visiting Furness.

Masterman used goals by Alejandro Ashworth, Josh Godbolt, Ian McGowan and Micky Novruvaj to beat host Southern, 4-0.

Musa Kamara led a balanced Fels scoring attack with two goals and helped the Panthers beat visiting Roxborough, 7-0.

Brother and sister John and Elise Nothacker combined for three assists and Berny Vilsaint stopped 14 shots to earn his fourth shutout for Fels.

Catholic. Nick Battaglia and Joey Hansen each picked up a goal and an assist and led Father Judge past visiting Neumann-Goretti, 5-0.

Angel Luviano contributed a pair of goals and helped Archbishop Ryan beat visiting Monsignor Bonner, 6-1.

Central. Ben Hriscu scored 25 minutes into the game and Lower Merion went on to beat host Harriton, 1-0.

Strath Haven got a goal from Christian Martin and downed host Radnor, 2-0.

Suburban One National. Chris Kulczytzky and Billy McConnell scored in the first half for Council Rock North in a 2-0 win over visiting Pennsbury.

Suburban One Continental. Keith Crews notched a natural hat trick in the first half and lifted Central Bucks South past host North Penn, 3-2.

Dan Caya scored the lone goal of the game on a header and gave Pennridge a 1-0 win over host Hatboro-Horsham.

Suburban One American. Cameron Scott found the range with two minutes left in overtime and handed Plymouth Whitemarsh a 1-0 win over visiting Cheltenham.

Erik Riesenstahl earned his 10th shutout of the season and led Wissahickon past host Upper Moreland, 3-0.

Del-Val. Elvis Kannah scored twice and added an assist as Academy Park slipped past visiting Penn Wood, 3-2.

Ches-Mont. Austin Kelso's goal two minutes into overtime gave Bishop Shanahan a 3-2 win over host Coatesville.

Jimmy McLaughlin accounted for all of Great Valley's goals in a 3-2 win over visiting Octorara.

Adam Junkin scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick with 3 minutes, 8 seconds left in the game and boosted Sun Valley past visiting West Chester East, 2-1.

Pioneer Athletic. Shawn Laskey scored 30 seconds into the second half and handed Perkiomen Valley a 1-0 win over host Methacton.

Bicentennial. Aiah Mbriwa picked up a goal and an assist and boosted Phil-Mont Christian to a 2-1 win over host Calvary Christian.

Tim Lazorko handled the scoring for Holy Ghost Prep in a 2-0 win over visiting Delco Christian.

Friends Schools. Jared and Noah Kimelheim accounted for second-half goals and George School beat visiting Abington Friends, 2-1, to maintain a share of first place with Shipley.

Mike Stewart scored twice and Gore Kamara earned his first career goal on a penalty kick as Shipley downed visiting Moorestown Friends, 3-1, to keep pace with George School.
