Thurs. Pa. boys’ and girls’ roundup: H.S. of the Future wins

Williams hit Steven Pruitt on a 50-yard pass in the third quarter that broke a 14-14 tie.

Earlier, Williams scored on a 68-yard kickoff return and added the two-point conversion run after that.

The Firebirds are now 1-4 overall, 1-3 league, while the Rams dropped to 0-4, 0-4.

Furness 14, Olney 0 - The visiting Falcons (4-1, 3-0) made the most of two turnovers, one resulting in a score in the Class AAAA Silver Division showdown. It was the first loss of the year for the Trojans (4-1, 3-1), who were coming off three consecutive shutouts.

Lincoln 14, Edison 6 - The host Railsplitters went ahead for good on a 13-yard touchdown pass from Miguel Sanchez to Sincere Marced in the fourth quarter.

Boys' Soccer

Shane Donovan's fourth game back from a fractured hip resulted in his third shutout in goal for host Central Bucks in a scoreless Suburban One Continental tie with Souderton.

Donovan had four saves for the Patriots (5-1-1, 5-0-2).

Hatboro-Horsham rallied to win at North Penn, 2-1, behind second-half goals from Chris Hobbs and Jeff O'Brien. Curtis Washburn's first-half goal gave the Knights a 1-0 lead. O'Brien scored the winning goal with 15 minutes left from 16 yards out off a pass from Connor Ryan.

Suburban One National. Mike Schofield and Sean Sheridan scored for host Neshaminy in its 2-1 win over Council Rock North. The Indians got a goal from Chris Beal.

Public. Musa Kumara and Fernando Belillal-Reysono each scored twice as host Fels earned a 6-3 win over Boys' Latin. The game was tied, 3-3, at the half.

Girls' Soccer

Katie Balmer's goal and assist turned out to be the difference for Strath Haven in its 4-2 Central League win at Lower Merion. The Panthers (9-2, 6-0) also got goals from Lexi Mazur, Jean Scanlan and Kristen Wilhelmsen.

Suburban One National. Julie Gallagher scored three goals to lead Abington to a 5-0 win at Truman. The Ghosts (5-4) also got goals from Rebecca McCaffrey and Mallory Mugnier.

Nonleague. Host Baptist High scored a pair of first-half goals to beat Christian Academy, 2-1. Megan Vevecchis scored for Christian Academy.

Field Hockey

Hannah Plappert scored with 24 minutes, 24 seconds left in the second half to give host Council Rock North a 1-0 Suburban One National win over Neshaminy. Michelle Hand had an assist on the play for the Indians.

Suburban One American. Lauren Becker scored a pair of goals for Wissahickon in its 6-0 win over visiting Cheltenham. Gretchen Guaglianone added a goal and a pair of assists in the game, which went into the books as an official result after being called because of rain at halftime.

Meg McCullough had a pair of goals for host Plymouth Whitemarsh in a 5-0 win over rival Norristown. Bryn Frankhouser, Mollie Getzfread, and Courtney Konowal also scored for the Colonials (5-4-1, 4-2).

Central. Jessica McCarthy scored twice for Haverford High in its 5-2 win over visiting Upper Darby. The Fords (8-3) scored four of their goals in the first half. Kate Bruno, Kelsey LeBlanc and Kelly Noone also scored. Meddie Gustache and Lauren Jordan scored for Upper Darby.

Candice Stefanic's goal in overtime gave Conestoga a 1-0 win at Radnor. Megan Connors got the assist for the Pioneers (7-1).

Girls' Volleyball

Kim McLaughlin had 20 assists and eight aces as host Masterman won its 86th-straight regular-season Public League match with a 25-17, 25-10, 25-22 win over visiting Saul. The Blue Dragons (6-0) also got eight kills from Taylor Curtis.
