Tues. S.J. boys’ and girls’ roundup: Moorestown upends Holy Cross

Ashley Shackelford had both goals for the Lancers, but Marie McCool's tally late in the second half put Moorestown ahead to stay.

Elsewhere in the Burlco:

Cristina Martin's fast start enabled host Riverside to snap its season-opening six-match winless streak, as the Rams (1-5-1) rolled past Medford Tech, 4-1.

Martin scored the first two goals and assisted on Casi Purcell's clinching score in the second half.

Northern Burlington wasn't able to escape the Liberty Division cellar, but the host Greyhounds used second-half goals by Lauren Donahue and Lauren McTamney to take down Patriot Division-leading Bordentown, 2-0.

Colonial. Alicia Barger recorder her seventh shutout of the season as West Deptford handcuffed host Sterling, 6-0. Danielle McKeown produced two goals and an assist while Christa Neary contributed and goal and a pair of assists for the 7-0 Eagles.

Lindenwold keeper Pamela Cardenas turned aside 18 shots, but the Lions couldn't muster any offense in a 6-0 loss at Haddon Township. Laura Dochney had a pair of goals to pace the Hawks.

Gateway rode two goals by Laura Rathof to a 3-1 victory at Paulsboro.

Tri-County. Rachel Copare totaled two goals and two assists, sparking Schalick to a 6-0 romp at Wildwood.

Cape-Atlantic. Kelsea Kneisel put Mainland on the board just six minutes into the match, but Sarah Conover pulled host Egg Harbor Township even by bending in a corner kick in the 34th minute, and the teams went on to play to a 1-1 draw.

Boys' Soccer

Haddon Township is off to an 8-0 start this fall following a 4-1 Colonial Conference triumph at Lindenwold.

Nick Dellavalle scored the Hawks' first and third goals, Kevin Griese had two assists, and goalie Drew Hart made 10 saves.

Woodbury tripped host Audubon, 4-2, behind Michael Ulmer's two goals, and one each from Alex Pollack and Nelson Strickland.

Burlington County. Kyle Lammerding notched a goal and an assist while guiding New Egypt past visiting Medford Tech, 4-0.

Tri-County. Pitman's 4-0 win at Woodstown featured single goals by Ryan McIntyre, Josh Pacana, Mike Riley and Fernando Roman.

Cape-Atlantic. Top-ranked St. Augustine blanked host Millville, 4-0, as Connor Hurff scored twice, and Hermits goalie John Richards stopped four shots for his seventh shutout in eight games.

Field Hockey

Corrine Etter knocked in a pass from Casey Derella to end the scoring drought with 3 minutes, 43 seconds left in regulation, giving host Millville a 1-0 win over Mainland in the Cape-Atlantic League.

Tara Spears stopped 11 shots to record the shutout for the Thunderbolts.

Meghan Oliver's second goal of the game, with 5:33 remaining in the second half, enabled Lower Cape May to hold on for a 3-2 victory at Buena. The Chiefs received two goals from Karlie Gruccio.

Wildwood Catholic netminder Caitlin Manos came through with 40 saves, but second-half goal slipped through to allow Sacred Heart to take a 1-0 road win.

Burlington County. In a meeting between undefeated division leaders, New Egypt outshot Florence, 22-8, but the visiting Flashes came up with an overtime goal to pull out a 5-4 victory.

Sarah Muchowski and Lexi Smith combined for three goals and three assists for Florence, while Emily Bausher scored twice for the Warriors.

Football

Timber Creek wide receiver Damiere Byrd and Holy Spirit linebacker Anthony Sarao have been selected for USA Football's Under-19 National Team "watch list."

The 45-player national team will be comprised of players from the 241-player watch list, and will compete against an international team in Austin, Texas, on Feb. 2.
