Sat. Jersey Football: Egg Harbor's Thomas goes coast-to-coast in win
Stephan Thomas returned a fourth-quarter kickoff 100 yards to give Egg Harbor Township the lead, and Zach Agostino added a late 2-yard TD run as the second-seeded Eagles defeated No. 3 seed Toms River East, 41-30, Saturday in a NJSIAA South Jersey Group 4 football semifinal played at St. Augustine.
Toms River East grabbed the lead just moments into the see-saw affair, with Mario Steriti taking the opening kickoff back 95 yards for a score.
Agostino had three rushing touchdowns for the Eagles (10-0), who overcame four deficits to set up a title-game showdown with top-seeded Cherokee on a date to be determined.
South Jersey Group 1
A pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns enabled third-seeded Woodbury to pull out a 19-16 win at No. 2 seed Penns Grove (8-2).
Anthony Averette scooped up a fumble and raced 99 yards early in the final period, and Brian Purnell found Jared Roberts open with a 9-yard strike late to send the 9-1 Thundering Herd into the sectional final against fourth-seeded Paulsboro.

Holy Spirit's Joe Callahan threw touchdown passes of 24 and 30 yards to Dan McNair, but second-seeded St. Joseph-Montvale unleashed an even more effective aerial assault in dominating the playoff semifinal, 45-19.
The host Green Knights (8-2) stormed out to a 14-0 lead in the opening period, when K'Waun Williams hauled in a pair of TD tosses from Devin O'Connor (5 for 11 passing, 131 yards).
Holy Spirit (7-3), the No. 6 seed, tried to mount a comeback, with Callahan finding McNair open for a score early in the second quarter. But two interceptions allowed St. Joseph to extend its lead to 31-7, and O'Connor and Williams hooked up again for a 33-yard touchdown in the third quarter.
