So. Jersey field hockey teams vie for state titles
Sunday is a special day for field hockey fans all over the state, but especially in South Jersey.

Eastern (23-2), in Group 4, is the absolute favorite to win a trophy in the large-school competition with Bridgewater Raritan (25-0), at 12 p.m. The Vikings, ranked No. 1 by The Inquirer and No. 4 in the nation by Topofthecircle.com, are going for their 11th consecutive state Group 4 crown.
Eastern center forward Kelsey Mitchell leads the state in scoring with 60 goals.
Bridgewater Raritan, which has lost to Eastern in each of the last four Group 4 finals, has a hot goaltender in Erica Perrine, who has allowed five goals in 25 games.
Ocean City (21-1), ranked No. 6 by The Inquirer, will seek its sixth state title when it squares off against Warren Hills (21-2-1), at 4 p.m. for the Group 3 championship. Ocean City has won 16 consecutive games and the Blue Streaks have won 15 in a row.
Ocean City senior forward Colleen Slaughter has had a hot hand, scoring winning goals in the last two games. In goal, the Red Raiders have Natalie Hunter, who has 53 career shutouts.
Testing her will be Warren Hills' Lindsey Schott. The sophomore forward has scored the winning goals in sectional and semifinal victories.
Bishop Eustace (17-2-3), ranked No. 4 by The Inquirer, will battle Madison (21-1-1), at 2 p.m., for the Group 2 crown. Eustace was a state runner-up last year.
