Three decades after claiming its lone NJSIAA football championship, Gloucester Catholic is a win away from another celebration.

Capitalizing on the aerial tandem of Cody Brown and Tim Segich, and the running of Alex Christ, the second-seeded Rams demolished No. 3 seed Morris Catholic, 33-7, Saturday in the semifinals of the state Non-Public 2 playoffs.

Gloucester Catholic (7-2), which won the South Jersey Parochial B title in 1979, will meet top-seeded St. Joseph for the state crown on a date to be determined.

Brown completed 11 of 15 passes for 317 yards and three touchdowns. The junior quarterback's favorite target, as usual, was Segich - with the senior hauling in scoring bombs of 49, 56, and 51 yards to finish with 210 yards receiving.

Christ, a senior running back, rumbled into the end zone from 8 yards out in the second quarter and broke loose for a 33-yard scoring jaunt in the third.

St. Joseph (7-2), which last won the state championship in 2006, used a punishing ground attack to dispatch No. 4 seed Pingry, 41-0, in yesterday's other semifinal.

Gordon Hill was the Wildcats' leading rusher, churning out two touchdowns and 83 yards on 10 carries. Kaheem Reynolds also scored twice while gaining 53 yards on six carries. Sean Clark (6 carries, 57 yards) and Jarred Bianchini (8 carries, 50 yards) each added a TD for St. Joseph, which totaled 285 yards rushing on 41 attempts.

State Non-Public 4

Fourth-seeded St. Augustine (8-1) grabbed a 7-0 lead on Gabe Voumard's 31-yard interception return, but No. 5 seed Seton Hall Prep (9-1) seized momentum with a punishing ground game that produced 450 yards on 50 carries en route to a 49-14 quarterfinal romp.

South Jersey Group 1

Zach Greenwald had a team-high seven tackles, but his biggest play was a 1-yard TD run in the fourth quarter that helped fourth-seeded Paulsboro finish off No. 5 seed Haddon Heights, 29-20, in a quarterfinal playoff game.

Quarterback Kevin Johnson spearheaded the Red Raiders' (8-1) attack, passing for 137 yards and two touchdowns, and the senior raced 61 yards with a punt for Paulsboro's first points.

The Garnets (6-3) had a pair of long-distance scoring plays, with Jim Liquori connecting with receiver Darius Jones on passes of 58 and 49 yards.

Glassboro 35, Palmyra 0 - P.J. James continued his personal ground assault, picking up 121 yards on 27 carries and scoring three times, in leading the top-seeded Bulldogs (8-1) to a home rout of No. 8 seed Palmyra (5-4).

James, who has 1,461 rushing yards this season, scored on runs of 34 and 10 yards and caught a 14-yard TD pass from Brandon Stephens.

Penns Grove 14, Schalick 6 - Malcolm Chase scored on an 85-yard pass from Nick Elmer, and Darron Mills dashed 45 yards for another TD, as the second-seeded Red Devils (8-1) came alive in the second half to eliminate No. 6 seed Schalick (6-3).

South Jersey Group 3

James Monroe ran for 60 yards and one touchdown in the first half before exiting with an ankle injury, and Jordan Raynor passed for 144 yards - including a 51-yard scoring strike to Corey Reeder - for No. 6 seed Pemberton (5-4) in a 33-14 quarterfinal loss at third-seeded Lacey Township.

Central Jersey Group 1

Sixth-seeded Florence (5-4) jumped on top early, but No. 3 seed Highland Park answered with Nate Smith's touchdown toss and two-point conversion pass to win the quarterfinal, 8-7.

Nonleague

Doug Groff ran for a pair of early scores, and Ryan Chesterton hauled in a 32-yard touchdown pass from Matt Donaldson in the fourth quarter, enabling host Haddon Township to hold off Maple Shade, 21-14.

Donaldson threw for 89 yards, and Vince Sampoli's 84 yards rushing led the Hawks (5-4).

Pedro Aldebol engineered two second-half scoring drives by the Wildcats (4-6) - reaching the end zone on a 1-yard keeper and firing an 8-yard strike to Teosualdo Restituyo.

Audubon 31, Salem 6 - Chris Borgesi returned the opening kickoff 83 yards for a touchdown, and John Flacco caught three passes from Brandon Hill for 106 yards, including scoring plays of 22 and 62 yards, as the Green Wave (4-5) rolled over visiting Salem (2-7).

Delran 12, Camden 0 - Keith Robinson's 1-yard plunge culminated a third-quarter scoring drive set up by Nick Couture's fumble recovery, and Trent Dobes put the game away with a 1-yard run in the final period.

Robinson (two interceptions) and Lance Manocchio (one pick) helped the host Bears (3-6) keep Camden (1-8) off the scoreboard.

Northern Burlington 23, Nottingham 14 - Three touchdown passes by Dan VanMater allowed the Greyhounds (3-7) to erase an early deficit and run away to a road win.

Bordentown 28, Roselle Park 0 - Brett Pedersen threw for two touchdowns and Matt Bauer scored twice to power the host Scotties (2-7).

Vineland 14, Deptford 6 - Second-quarter touchdown runs by Ryan Winchester and Darrel Chestnut were enough for the Clan (2-7) to edge host Deptford (0-9).

Clayton 57, Riverside 32 - DeShaun Carr ran for two touchdowns and caught a pair of scoring passes to power the host Clippers (3-3) to their highest point total of the season. Riverside (0-9) surrendered at least 40 points for the third consecutive game.
