Rain was pouring down during all four quarters Friday night in Haddonfield.

There was more mud on the field than grass. And just like the conditions, the game wasn't pretty.

In a contest marred with miscues, fumbled snaps and turnovers, Haddonfield managed the game's only sustained drive in the fourth quarter, and it was enough to send the Bulldogs to a 13-8 win over Willingboro in the Group 2 quarterfinals.

"It's hard to throw in this weather, so we knew we just had to come out here and pound the ball," said Haddonfield running back Chris Davis, who rushed for a game-high 99 yards on 20 carries.

Up 6-0 to start the fourth quarter, Haddonfield got the ball with 11 minutes, 4 seconds left on the clock on its own 30-yard line. The Bulldogs were coming off a third quarter in which they had a 23-yard touchdown called back for holding, a punt return touchdown called back for running into the kicker and lost a crucial fumble in the quarter's final minutes.

But, all of those mistakes were wiped away after a 15-play, 70-yard drive that ate up 8:24 of the fourth quarter. It ended when quarterback Phillip Bhaya snuck the ball into the end zone for a one-yard touchdown.

"We shot ourselves in the foot a couple of times in the game, and we know we're capable of putting up more than 13 points," said Bhaya, who rushed for 69 yards on 12 carries including a 32 yard touchdown run on the games opening drive.

All 15 plays in Haddonfield's monster fourth-quarter drive were runs. The Bulldogs attempted only four passes in the game.

Willingboro's only successful drive came on its last drive late in the fourth quarter.

Chimera quarterback Matthew Dash, who finished with 14 carries for 72 yards, opened the drive with a 40-yard run and finished it by completing a 14-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Rashoun Houston.

With 1:19 left on the clock, Willingboro failed the onsides kick following the touchdown, and Haddonfield was able to kneel on the ball for the win.

"What [Willingboro coach Reggie Lawrence] has done in a year with that team is incredible," said Haddonfield head coach Frank DeLano. "They're a good football team . . . I joked around all week, saying that [Willingboro] was like the Minnesota Vikings. They're big up front, and the game had to come down to us stopping penetration, we had to be able to run the football."
