Sat. Pa. Football: Washington cruises past Bartram
Washington got a couple of touchdowns from an unexpected source in a 34-6 Public League Class AAAA football semifinal win Saturday over Bartram.
At Southern, Daquan Cooper, who had one carry all season, scored on a 34-yard run and a 23-yard pass from Aaron Wilmer as the Eagles (7-2) again advanced to the title game.
Northeast (6-3) beat Frankford, 21-9, in the other semifinal, also at Southern.
In the Class AAA semifinals at Simon Gratz, Dobbins beat Mastbaum, 20-12, and Simon Gratz beat Roxborough, 12-6.
Catholic League
Anthony Reid's 1-yard quarterback sneak with 2 minutes, 3 seconds left gave North Catholic a Class AAA semifinal win over Conwell-Egan at Plymouth Whitemarsh.
The deciding score was set up when John Ziegler recovered a fumble on the previous kickoff for the Falcons (5-4). North Catholic's Eugene Byrd had 18 carries for 123 yards.
In the other semifinal, Archbishop Wood outlasted Lansdale Catholic, 22-19.
La Salle 24, Cardinal O'Hara 14 - In a regular-season game, the Explorers (8-1) got a pair of touchdown passes from Drew Loughery.
Pioneer Athletic
Ryan Schwager gained 121 yards on 13 carries and scored three touchdowns as Boyertown earned a 42-7 win at Methacton. The Bears (5-5 overall, 4-4 league) led, 35-0, at the half.
Inter-Ac League
Chris O'Brien scored on a run and a pass as Malvern Prep coasted to a 35-14 win at Germantown Academy.
Nonleague
Ethan Taylor scored on a pair of touchdown runs for visiting Fork Union (Va.) in a 23-20 win at Valley Forge Military Academy. The Cadets got a pair of touchdown passes from Blake Robles.
Morrisville 32, Conrad Science (Del.) 6 - Matt Cookson tossed three touchdown passes as the Bulldogs (6-5) coasted to an easy win. Cookson found three teammates on his tosses, Eugene Figueroa, Julian Walker and Ruben Bresnen.
